This week’s Whiskey Wednesday lineup was a trip to Ireland for Irish whiskey. They were all pretty good. Took home the single malt.

My first bourbon was the Elijah Craig Small Batch. That is what got me going more into Bourbon than the Scotch I have been drinking for almost fifty years. Still have a Scotch on occasion but mostly bourbon now.

Found a little bitty bottle of Eagle Rare. It didn’t have a little bitty price though.

The one good things about shopping for Bourbon in Ohio is it’s always MSRP since liquor sales are state run and you can see if something is in stock at a liquor store before you go there to buy it.

Looking at the last few weeks of posts, it seems as though Blanton’s is both popular among the members here as well as available.

Recently started buying some bourbons after reading so much about how good bbq goes with bourbon. The Jack Daniels was bought to make homemade cough syrup. I've had the Maker's Mark for 3 or 4 years and the rest are recent purchases. The bottle of Buffalo Trace is a single barrel selected by the liquor store owner where I bought it. He said the barrel was designated to become Eagle Rare but was offered to him as Buffalo Trace. I don't have enough experience to go on but it tastes pretty good to me!

May I suggest a rye as your next purchase. Rye whiskey is not for everyone because of its “spice” but some entry level choices in my opinion would be Sazerac, Bulleit rye or Knob Creek rye. They should be all under $40 and aren’t to “spice” forward.

I have a couple of small 50ml bottles I bought to sample taste rye- Bulleit Rye and WhistlePig PiggyBack Rye. Haven’t tried them yet.

Nice collection! I picked up some Buffalo Trace bourbon balls in Louisville KY last week. They're very good!

              Can't go wrong with JDSBBP...

                So tasty!

Picked these up the other day when visiting family in Va Beach.
VOB100 is probably my favorite cheap whiskey.
I bought two because they rarely have it around here, (Baltimore Metro area)

Nice shopping day for you. The Wild Turkey 101 Rye is so underrated,

A sipper of this good stuff while I tend to the kettle for a tri tip. Man this bottle has aged so well since I opened it…didn’t care for it much a few years ago, but now…completely different story! Such a great pour!

                So very delicious.

Last week’s Whisky Wednesday took us to the Islay region of Scotland. All of the pours were great. I’m sipping on their baseline single malt.

I'm an Islay whiskey whore. I'm guessing that the Octomore were the last pours of the night? I have a bottle of the 14.2 & my palate is toast after a couple of those....

Skinsfan1311, you are 100% correct. The Octomore 15.2 was the last taste. I like peated so the Port Charlotte and October’s were a perfect way to finish the tasting.

I enjoy the Classic Laddie myself. My wife loves the bottle since it matches her accent color in our home. For being unpeated I can still taste smoke, or so I think.

              Happy Fryeday!
