fzxdoc Absolutely. It was my go-to barrel strength whiskey back in the day, when it could be had for $55.00..then Beam got stupid & started raising the price. I quit buying when the cost went North of $70.00. This was the first one that I've bought in maybe 10 or more years. I paid $99.00 at a PA state-controlled store last November & don't regret it at all. I don't drink 120+ proof whiskey as much as I used to, so this one will last for years. I was also gifted a bottle at a Super Bowl party.Last edited by Skinsfan1311; February 25, 2025, 11:28 AM.

I saw this bourbon on an online article rating whiskeys and bourbons. They called it the " Poor man's Pappy VanWinkle". I'm a poor man so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm expecting around $40 or $50 a bottle. My first clue should have been when the price was $28.99. This ain't no Pappy's. With a couple of cubes,it's OK. Nothing I'd buy again. I think some of these surveys are AI generated

It's nothing like PVW. I bought a bottle once...tried it a couple of times...and gave it away to our son, who is the delighted recipient of bottles that I don't care for.Last edited by Skinsfan1311; February 25, 2025, 11:28 AM.

Decided to try a nice cheap bottle tonight.
Here in Ohio this is a $18.99 bottle.
I’ve read it has the same mash bill as Blanton’s and Elmer T. Lee. It’s just bourbon that for some reason didn’t make the cut for those two high end bourbons. I’ve not had Blanton’s or Elmer T. Lee yet so I can’t compare it to those.
On first smell I got caramel corn and I also got caramel corn on first taste along with a bit of vanilla. It does have a bit of harshness to it. But for $20 it can actually be sipped in a glass.
On my second pour of it tonight I added a few ice cubes and it tamed down the harshness quite a bit.
This will probably be something I use in some recipes I have that use bourbon. I find if the bourbon is nice and smooth to drink it sometime disappears when I use it to cook with.
