Elijah Craig Barrel Proof - batch B523 - a few years old adn it’s mellowed out a bit, needs a small ice cube for me to round it off, but sips really nice, especially on the patio at the lakehouse!

Been workin those fingers to tha bone? Ya only git boney fingers.

I rarely stray from Non-Islay whiskey, but this is a great pour, and perfect for an unseasonably cool August evening...

Whiskey Wednesday this week took us to the world of independent bottlers. Lost Lantern is based in Vermont and purchases barrels from all over to blend, barrel and bottle under their name. The bottle I purchased is from Frey Ranch. Cask strength and delicious.

Everything I’ve bought from Frey Ranch has been delicious. They are one of my favorite distilleries.

Fire season and a good sipper!

My neighbor frequently hosts whiskey tastings in his garage. One of the guys has an extensive Scotch collection with some bottles in the range of $1000. No idea what this one costs but it was by far the best bottle there. I brought a bottle of Maker's Mark cast strength because the guy at the liquor store recommended it. I was underwhelmed, and disappointed in it. But it'll make some tasty cocktails. But here was the star of the show.

                Fantastic rye.

I had a couple post-vacation pours last night...and brought these home. The JD were $21.00 each at a Walmart in Cottonwood AZ...that's an insanely good price.

                Great selection.

I'm really, really, sad to see this one go.

Got a fun cook coming up today! Been in the kitchen for a few hours prepping and going through the process, so thought I’d crack a bottle I’ve had for a year or so since it’s gonna be a fun dinner!

All of the selections were exceptional and I chose the 1910 Fine Old Whiskey. Old Forester’s Whiskey Row collection is worth a buy. If I remember correctly it was the 1920 that was my favorite, with the 1870 getting honorable mention being so unique. You can't go wrong with any of them though. I think their 100 proof cheapy is one of the best cheapies out there. That's a noteworthy collection!

That's a good and affordable Whistlepig. great pictures!

I don't have a pic since I'm at work and just thought of this...but I've never been a fan of Angel's Envy, always thought it didn't live up to its hype. Overpriced for what it tastes like, IMO.

Well, Meathead gifted me a bottle of a single barrel store pick from Wisconsin (I think) on his travels and it is EXCELLENT, it truly is. I had to tell Mh that I wasn't just trying to be polite, it really is wonderful, and it reinforces to me that single barrels have the potential to be earth shattering and you may never know it if you typecast a blended bourbon or another single barrel that you didn't care for. I never would have bought another bottle of AE myself.

Sounds like a great bottle buddy! And i agree on the SiB - they just seem to be better than the standard bottles!

And show us a pic of that bottle when you have a chance!

I do like AE - my wife really enjoys it, especially the Rye.

I feel the same way about Angels Envy. I tried it once and wasn't impressed. I'll have to look for a bottle of the single barrel
