barelfly DELICIOUS. Tom’s Foolery makes their Applejack just like bourbon. They pot distill apple cider twice until it’s to proof. Then they age it in charred oak barrels just like bourbon. My bottle was distilled on 1-13-2018 and then bottled on 10-18-2023. It’s has a sweetness to it a bit like wheated bourbon and has just the slightest hint of apple.

It's good, but there's a ton of better whiskey out there in that price range, or less.... OId Grand Dad Bottled in Bond, Old Grand Dad 114, Wild Turkey 101 bourbon or rye, Maker's Mark 101, Maker's Mark 46, Rittenhouse Rye, Bulleit rye, Jack Daniels bonded, etc...any of the aforementioned tastes better than AE, IMHO, For Old Fashioneds, I suggest Wild Turkey 101 or 101 rye, which is much better & you can get 2 bottles of WT for the price of 1 bottle of AE.

Makers and Bulleit would probably be better for old fashions. My husband really likes Angels for sipping.

In my opinion Ryes make the best Old Fashions. I think the spiciness of the ryes compliments the sweetness of the drink. And for its price point I believe Sazerac Rye is one of the best things to make Old Fashions with.

Son in law gave me this as a gift. It is just under $300 in our Canadian liquor stores. More than I would usually spend but it sure was good to drink Click image for larger version

Great gift! One of my absolute favorites. I’ve always said that if I could only drink one bourbon for the rest of my life that Colonel E.H. Taylor Small Batch would make the list and I’d be darn happy!

This bottle in Ohio is $49.99. Apple is my favorite fruit. In your opinion is this bottle worth $50?

We had a Penelope tasting flight NYE with friends (the guys, not us girls). Girls setup the tasting and order and they had to decide which was their favorite and what each were. Two people liked smoked, one liked architect, one liked straight (white label) and one liked barrel. But all agreed they didn’t like rosé.

What’s the difference between architect and regular?

JCBBQ regular (red label) is hotter, architect is oilier, flavor stays longer on tongue. White label is very mild, not much complexity.

      Next!!

What was last night’s victory pour?? Dallas Cowboy fans want to know what that was like

Some wonderful amber drinks on here. Some very expensive and some regular and each has its own taste. However what I may like and what someone else likes will differ as we all have different tastes. Kind of like ordering a pizza, try that with four or more people. I enjoy looking at all of these whisky's and seeing new options. Keep them coming

I had a bottle of that some years back and enjoyed it

These arrived today. I bought 'em at the recommendation of a friend whose whiskey palate aligns with mine. He told me that if I'd kick myself if I didn't buy these.

My guess would be that your glassware and pour do not match. Both are very good however.
