Started at 4am with a couple cups of coffee and a pork butt. It was cold so a fire was lit. Now with only a couple hours to go, it’s time for a Copper and Cask single barrel. Copper and Cask is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Isnt’ that the best! Sippin and smokin!!!

We did a bourbon tasting after "busting & dusting" sporting clays at a charity event for veterans.
With the exception of a Blanton's pour, I only drank "new to me" whiskey. Over the years I went through a bottle of the standard Heaven's Door and it was good, but never tasted great. This Cask Strength pick was spectacular.
I've had several iterations of BBC whiskey, but this Twice Barrelled was excellent.
The other one that stuck out was a Yellowstone 10 year. I have a 7 year that hasn't been opened yet. If it's anything like its older brother, I'll be happy.
Since this was for our vets, this guy dropped in. I'm not gonna lie, shooting, eating and drinking whiskey is a lot more fun than a golf tournament

It’s a fresh crack fRYEday! And the first few sips of this bottle…..oh wow! This could become one of my favorite pours. I love double oaked pours as well as a good rye….combined! This is knock your socks off good! Anyone else have a pour of this bottle before?

Very interesting, a double oaked rye.

I know nothing about whiskey. I found this in the cabinet tonight. One of the kids must of left this here. I tried some on the rocks, not bad at all.

Picked up a bottle of my favorite under $30 bourbon. $27.99 here in Ohio can’t be beat.

I seen this distillery posted on here quite a few times. I will have to pick me up a bottle and try it. You folks are quite fond of it.

If you can find it cruiseplanner1. It’s very difficult to find in Massachusetts and when available high priced. All of their offerings are fantastic.

This week’s Whiskey Wednesday had us tasting Old Elk Whiskey. Picked a bottle of rye whiskey.

I have a bottle left from a pick that a buddy of mine did a few years ago and it's fantastic. I bought a couple and wished I had bought more.

barelfly, I did try the single barrel straight wheat whiskey. In my opinion it was
my second choice behind the cigar blend. All of their offerings are fantastic.

A Monday pour of this 107 while I cook it up making some risotto!

I really wish I could find that (or any Weller) around here, but alas, it's Pennsylvania. 'Nuf said.

I'm off until the middle of next week so I'm celebrating Thanksgiving a little early.

Huskee I'm a big Turkey Head. The 8 year is good, really good, but not "$20.00 better than the standard WT101" good. Sadly the standard WT101 used to be 8 years old...now they charge a premium for it.

Yeah, I hear you. I've noticed "shrinkflation" in bourbon aging as well. Heaven Hill's 6yr white label was dirt cheap and they discontinued it and reintroduced the white label as a 4yr. Then they made the discontinued 6yr into 7yr which is now Heaven Hill Bottled In Bond, about $60. I am convinced we will see a LOT of similar actions in the future.

Huskee absolutely! I love the OGD BiB so much that I have a decanter for just for it. The 114 is good too.

Huskee don't remind me! I loved the HH 6 year BiB. It was one you could bring to parties, (like the McKenna 10 year & Weller used to be), and leave the bottles. Evan Williams BiB is solid and cheap and, Very Old Barton 100 is a fantastic cheap pour.

I've been drinking the Evan Williams 1783 as an every day (and I DO mean ever day) out for a little while more. It's quite nice and doesn't break the bank.

It’s a sad night, but I know where there’s more.

            Who’s counting!

Enjoying this bottle my brother gave me the other day for my 70th birthday. Tastes pretty good and keeps me warm while looking out the deck door at Lake Huron/Saginaw Bay freezing out about a half mile. Pictures is not that good. Click image for larger version

There falling left and right, another bottle has been emptied. The good news is that whiskey protocol states that every empty bottle must be replaced. Click image for larger version

cruiseplanner1, it’s an Isley Scotch which is mostly a peated region. Nice sweet peat smokeyness.

I really enjoy Laphroaig (what my friend calls Leap Frog🤣) but I haven't tasted that particular one.

This week’s Whiskey Wednesday was Rum Wednesday. We sampled selections from a Massachusetts based rum distillery. They were all fantastic. I brought home their Navy Yard offering which is exceptional.
