Any update? I know I've tried their standard, and if memory serves I liked it but it wasn't wowing. I know from experience with certain bourbons, Larceny for instance, the cask strength is a completely different animal, not just stronger, but different. Curious with this one.

He bought an entire barrel at a custom blend yer own.
Law ha Mussey, this is prolly the best Bourbon I have had the pleasure to enjoy. The dog on the sticker is his pooch. 😋

Not sure on cost, but I’d say around that on bottles.

We can normally get this up here fairly often. It’s still an allocated, but shows up at the liquor stores.

My wife surprised me with this Whiskey Advent Calendar this weekend. Fun thing, she said she will try all of these with me. But packaging is pretty cool, comes with 2 Glen Carins, 24 samples of Whiskey/Bourbon, and a booklet providing info on each sampling. Out of the samples included, I think there are only 2 that I have tried in the past, so I’m looking forward to trying new stuff.

To start the festivities off, Heaven Hill BiB. I enjoy HH BiB, my wife also enjoyed it - think she will prefer a small ice chip with each just to mellow it a bit, but that was her first full pour of a bourbon she has had.

That's really cool! I used to do Flaviar for a few years until every sample they would send me wouldn't actually be for sale in bottles, then I they apparently stopped shipping to MI altogether. It's been a while. I too really like HH BiB, great pour, not sure it's worth $60-ish like it costs here, but a good pour anyway.

Wanted to pick this up after a tasting that I went to. It lived up to the hype.

This was in the Advent Calendar. I also really liked it and will pick up a bottle soon!

Day 4 from the Advent Calendar - Chicken Cock. Another bottle I have never tried. I enjoyed this pour, I could actually pick up the various notes of Carmel, butterscotch, dried cherry and pepper. This was my favorite pour so far, Day 2 was Bhatka 1928 Rye, which was also good. Day 3 was Stranahan’s Blue Peak Single Malt - not my favorite, I just don’t like malt whiskeys.

Day 6 - this was enjoyable. Day 5…..not so much…it was a drain pour! Bleh! But I definitely know i don’t care for malted whiskey, most scotches and single gram whiskey

just give me bourbon or rye!

Haha I don't know. Ended up at the doc getting some antibiotics and cough medicine. But I am still doubling up on the bourbon... it makes the cough more tolerable!

That stuff will put hair on your chest hair.

Found this one at the liquor store the other night, and I'm a rye fan, so I had to try it.

Been drinking Elijah Craig for years in various iterations including their Single Barrel Small Batch, which is like 130+ proof.

This one, I like ok, but it's not a standout to me. It's a good quality like everything EC does, but I particularly like American ryes due to the spiciness - this one is pretty mild in that regard. I drink them neat with just a splash of water, so I can savor all the flavors, but this one, while again is good, just doesn't have much of that rye spiciness and zing to it that I like in some of the better ones. I like Sazerac rye as one of my favorite everyday kind of sips, a little more spicy, but not expensive like a Whistlepig or something.

Sazerac is an incredible rye for the price.

I love ryes and there are 3 ryes I don't care for, whose bourbon counterparts I like a lot: this one, EH Taylor's rye (at least the year I tried it), and Woodford Reserve's. All 3, IMHO, are skippable, and as memory serves I felt Woodford's rye was the worst.

I had a wonderful afternoon with an Eagle, a Turkey and a bunch of Bengal tiggers. Thank you AmazingWibs for the social that is unparalleled. Click image for larger version
