Still riding the JD train...same rye as earlier, but a different release...still damn good...it's impossible to find a less than stellar JDSBBP whiskey...

I keep saying I’m going to get a bottle but I don’t. I know they are nothing like their bastard step brother Old No. 7 but me and Old No. 7 in my youth had too many fights where I lost. 😝 O just need to get past them memories mentally and get a JDSBBP.

ssandy_561 the only thing that SBBP, the Barrel Selects, the Heritage, etc have in common with the JD7 is that they're made at the same distillery. It's like comparing Beams white label to the Knob Creek 18yr, or the SiB..same distillery but very different whiskey. Snag a JDSBBP, the standard or rye, pour it over a large cube, and thank me later...

So never heard of that before but seen a bottle of it in our liquor store today. I remembered seeing your post and had to go back and look it again. It was not a Double Oak bottle but I may grab it next time over there and try it anyway

cruiseplanner1 - was it their rye bottle? Their Double oaked rye is one of my top bottles. they have a few others, and I’ve heard the Toasted bottles are pretty good. I have not tried their small batch or single barrel bottles, but I’m sure they are good as well.

After five generations of bourbon makers, we have the patience to make your favorite bourbon. Visit an authentic, grain to bottle distillery in Louisville.

I do not recall but I will be back down there Thursday. I will pick up a bottle and post a picture of it. After of course I have had a sip.....

I'm gonna miss this one...the good news is that our golf league is starting up in in a few weeks and I have a cool new bag for my tees

Love the pic. I use those bags for my golf stuff too! Works great!

Went to a wedding reception at a winery today and bought a bottle of Bourbon.

We went to Gervasi Vineyard today which is only 30 minutes from my house. I knew they sold Bourbon but I thought they just bottled and sold Bourbon. Nope, I was completely wrong. They have been distilling spirits since 2019.

I decided to just get their standard Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It’s pretty good. It’s only 94 proof. Lots of butterscotch on the nose and on the taste only. I couldn’t find out anything about the mashbill except all the grains used are Ohio grown. I’m thinking it’s a bit higher in rye because there is quite a bit of baking spice on the finish. It does drink quite warm and I think that’s because it’s quite young.

Overall it’s a nice Bourbon. Nice to drink. I don’t think I’d ever buy another bottle since nothing stands out about it.

They do have tours of their distillery on Sunday with samples available. I’ll have to go to one of them and try their other bourbons they have available. They have a barrel strength single barrel available. They also have a wine barrel bourbon. I’m thinking that may be the special one since they are an award winning winery.

This is a revelation to me! This blows away Redbreast 12…which I was very disappointed with when I got it for a St Paddy’s feast 2 years ago. Determined to do better this year, I can across this. It’s fantastic and I’ll buy it year round not just for March 17th. Highly recommend.

I've never seen this one before. I've had the Redbreast 12, but, prefer the Redbreast 15. That said, if you like this one, and enjoy whiskeys finished in sherry I would recommend the Redbreast 15 PX. It too is finished in sherry casks. It's fabulous. It's a fan favorite amongst my friends and I always try to find a bottle to bring on our hunting and fishing trips. I have a couple of friends who drink this over some really nice bourbons.

Sweaty Paul thanks man! I’ll look for it.

My yearly sipper of this Irish Whiskey. It’s decent…but not really my thing. But I’ll finish this at some point in the future!

barelfly, they’ve only been around a few years now. I just recently started seeing their stuff on shelves here. Hopefully it’s in your area soon!

I wasn't feeling the rye, so I went with one of my favorite cheap bourbons.

How was that? I had a regular MM last night and it was interesting…thought it was a bit like grape cough syrup and I don’t recall that at all for MM. but regular MM vs. their specialty bottles may be the difference. The heart release last year was outstanding! I may go pick this bottle up, I’ve always enjoyed their cask bottles.

Pendleton’s Rye in this Old Fashion as I grill up a few Bubba’s Burgers on the gasser for dinner tonight. Cooked down some onions and mushrooms, and this kept me nice and cool out in that dang hot March weather!
