      Loves me a good Paloma!

I know not many will ever make it out this way in New Mexico, but…..if anyone decided to travel out for the Hatch Chile Festival in September you could drive up to Truth or Consequences and visit our favorite brewery - TorC Brewery! It’s such a cool vibe in downtown TorC and only 45 minutes to Hatch

so let me know when you plan on visiting so we can have a Green Chile Meat up!

      😳😳😳

It’s been years since I’ve picked up a bottle of MM 46, and I don’t believe I’ve had the cask strength before. This is the first pour, so need to go back to it of course, but perhaps this weekend I’ll do a side by side of this 46CS and the 2023 BEP bottle.

I am a HUGE fan of the genius comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, so when I saw this in the case at the grocery store today, I had to buy some to try out. Sycamore is out of Charlotte, NC.

Unfortunately the labeling gave no hint that this is one of the "hazy/juicy" IPAs, and if it had I may not have tried it. But I will say that this beer is really very tasty, not like the hazy ones I've tried. If I were blindfolded, I'd never guess that it was nearly opaque. 7.1% ABV, very nicely balanced with a lot of fruity flavors and a TON of finishing hops, and the bitterness blends well with the malt so that the IBUs aren't in your face. Highly drinkable, which is dangerous at that alcohol content! Would buy again.

The can looks like it’s from TorC Brewery - they base a lot of their brews and art design from space given the proximity to the Space Station.

My wife bought me this great cocktail book called the Cocktail Codex. Our next door neighbor has this book and she wants to work though the book with me to attempt to master cocktails. So now I have my own copy to work with. The concept is that there are only 5 cocktails and everything else is a variation of those 5 cocktails.

The High Five 🖐️ it was delicious.

Today was an absolutely splendid afternoon, so I knocked off an hour early, kicked back on the patio in the shade, and had a couple o'pints.

Green Flash West Coast IPA out of San Diego, 7.1% ABV, very generously hopped but still quite malty. This sixer was packaged a couple months ago, and from the flavor I'd say it sat in a hot space for too long - it did have to make it across the country in a truck, so that's very likely where that happened. Very good, but the most volatile hop aromatics have degraded. Still beats the crap out of *gag* PBR or Coors lite. I know, I know - a bar set about as low as it can get

Lost Rhino Brewing's Rhino Chasers pilsner out of Ashburn, VA. 5.6% ABV, and when fresh (like the six pack I have, packaged just a few weeks ago) one of the finest pils I have ever had. Malty but dry (the holy grail of brewing, SO hard to pull off), firm but balanced bitterness, lovely noble-hop finish. A little bit of Czech heaven in a can. They're one of the enlightened breweries that stamps the packaging date, not a "best by", so you know exactly what you're getting in terms of freshness. (Why oh why don't ALL breweries do this?!) If you see this and it's less than 2 months from packaging, grab it.

Just FYI Green Flash has absolutely nothing to do with San Diego any more. Last I checked the brand is now owned by a marijuana company in Atlanta and produced in Colorado. Same thing with Alpine. I used to work there, and know many people who got screwed over by the OG owners & the LLC that took it over. Greedy Corpbros screwed up something that was pretty special for a while.

mnavarre I am really sorry to hear that! Maybe that's another reason the beer wasn't as good as I remember from when I first had it years ago while visiting family out in CA. A damn shame.

Thanks Attjack! This is right up my alley. Dangerously delicious. Click image for larger version

I'm glad you liked it too! Currently, my wife is on her way home with a coveted bottle of Yellow Chartreuse. I've enjoyed my fair share of Green Chartreuse but I've never had the yellow. I look forward to contrasting and comparing the two and making some cocktails.

Attjack based on this I bought the codex book! 💪💪 Excited to liven up my stale cocktail game.

Grabbed a pack of these the other day…
Not bad, though I’m still looking for a proper dry cider.

I had a couple ciders recently. Was a nice change.

Happy Derby day. Seemed like the proper pour.

Cinco de Mayo celebration. The wind here at home today spoiled my dinner plans for Birria Tacos on the griddle…but still having some fun with the beverages!

Spicy Margarita with Ancho Verde for my wife and an Estilo Viejo for myself, a tequila old fashioned, but spun my way. Casamigos Anejo tequila with a little agave, dash of Angostura bitters, splash of Ancho Verde and a touch of smoke with my cocktail smoker. This is a great cocktail!

Lucky break found me with 8 ounces of EH Taylor barrel strength, batch 12 I believe, as it comes in at a delicious 131 proof.

Wow! Never had the BS. How is? Ive read it’s hit or miss compared to the small batch.

Staying with the theme of the day for the night cap while we watch Fargo, Season 3…tequila has grown on me so much over the last year.
