Old Fashioned with the clear ice. Ice didn’t come out as easily as I thought it would nor as much as I expected but pretty cool to make a cocktail and see clearly through the glass! My wife asked if it’s worth the effort….perhaps when I have some friends over, to impress, but for me, the silicon molds I have work pretty well.

In-Ickes one up today! Struck out in my first try to locate the barrel strength single barrel Rye from Jack, they are checking and will call me, but I feel I need to find one through another resource.

      First pour of this bottle

barelfly, they are all awesome , but if I could only choose one it would be their port finished rye. My local mom and pop package store has an incredible whiskey department and the owner is very knowledgeable. He is going to be doing a barrel pick for his store from Milam and Greene and asked if I wanted to take part in it. I'm looking forward to that sometime after Christmas.

It’s not really vacation….i mean it is but it’s sweat equity weekend - the wife and I are going to paint the exterior of the house this weekend. But a good dinner and a few beverages to start the weekend off! And this Rittenhouse for an Old Fashioned! Good stuff, as it’s been a bit since I’ve had this bottle.

And the Tito’s - that’s for the wife and the martinis I made for her.

I love a Beefeater "see through" but with an olive.

Purc I generally enjoy an Olive or 3 with a Martini. This was my first time using orange bitters and a lemon twist. It was really enjoyable.

For Pit members who enjoy intense, in-your-face chocolate flavor, (this is not your momma’s Hershey syrup) I present, John’s Drinking Chocolate. It is named after the founder of Scharffenberger Chocolate, a CA based artisan chocolate maker. Although Hershey did acquire the company years ago, apparently they had the good sense to not screw around with a good thing so the quality of their chocolate remains exceptional.

This is a thick, intense drinking chocolate made with Scharffenberger 99% cacao bars, whole milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and a dash of cayenne. (The Aztecs knew what they were doing!)

I sprinkle just a bit more cayenne on top of the whipped cream.
