Old Ezra 7-year mixed with 7-Up. Any whiskey mixed with soda is what I call a camp cocktail because it's the level of effort I'm willing to put into a cocktail while camping. I'm not camping but I've been installing a bathtub today and don't want to put in any more effort or thought than this right now.

I make similar camp cocktails when camping, except with beer instead. Sometimes tiny splash of bourbon & beer, sometimes gin & beer.

After an exhilarating date night at Costco….

we came home and made a cauliflower pizza that was great and had a few cocktails. fRYEday Old Fashioned and Dirty Martini…shaken of course!

Wife and I went out for our Saturday venture with no plans. Went to a local brewery near by…of course no beer for us, but I did have a great Old Fashioned with New Mexico bourbon and my wife had a lemon mango cider with a tajin rim. Beautiful January winter Saturday!

hahaha! hoovarmin - we went to a metal art shop looking for yard art after. Then on our way driving nowhere, I finally found the bonsai guy I see around town when I’m on my bike! So….we came home with a beautiful bonsai tree - also stopped a Sprouts for a few things for dinner so much more exhilarating afternoon!

barelfly I tease. I remember a Friday night with my wife going to Home Depot, then dinner at Boston Market, then stopping at the convenience store for a snickers bar. Driving home feeling like life was great, and then it hit me that my younger self would have jumped off a bridge if it had been shown this future 😂

hoovarmin - that’s a night we do often! Home Depot dates are great! Followed up with the local grocery store for a pint of ice cream

Tonight I decided to break open a new bottle of something nice. Last night as a 'bachelor' before The Wife gets home tomorrow... and I also got some confirmation on a special errrrmmmm.... let's call it a 'project', I'm going to be working on in a couple of weeks. It'll be a big deal for a good number of people who love to BBQ and I expect it might spark some interest here. Hang tight!

I can't make an announcement yet, but it's gonna be COOL as HECK!

        CHEERS, YA'LL!!!

This bottle's been sittin' in my cabinet waiting for me to break it open since I brought it back from St. Vincent & the Grenadines a little over a year ago. Tonight's a good night, so here it is!

Attjack, thanks for clarifying. It really made no sense to me when I saw Glenlivet and rum. 🔥🔥🐿️

It's finally available somewhere besides the distillery:

Which means the last of the bottle we brought back from Louisville 2 years ago is no longer on lockdown.

This is a good bottle! I have maybe a 1/4 of one left. Really enjoy it! I’ll throw another one out that I like - Peerless Double Oaked. If you see a bar that has it, give it a try.

I had ordered this a few years back to share with a buddy of mine after he recovered from his open heart surgery. I keep it on hand for special occasions, but tonight was just because I wanted to treat myself with a dram. Slainte everyone.

Nice martini in a cool, celebratory-looking glass. I just discovered the other day we have some lemon rind stuffed olives and they go in my Gin martini.

Happy fRYEday, it's been a while so it was time for a a couple fingers of this exceptional rye. Click image for larger version

I've honestly tried to develop a taste for drinks with a higher rye content, but for some reason it just doesn't agree with my palate. I've had Whistle Pig and its pretty good even with the higher rye mash. Slainte for your drink of choice, that's what makes the world interesting.

          Good morning AR!

Although not the Old No 7, it was a Jack Daniels Rye

I had this friday night. I didn’t expect much from it, but it was actually really good. Smooth bourbon pour, and would make an excellent old fashioned, especially with the smoke top add on.

I was reading Reddit on one of the whiskey subreddits and apparently, Basil Hayden is thought of as a gimmicky whisky that people outgrow as their palette expands and that it's nothing but a blended whisky made by Jim Beam.

With some of the bottles Ive seen from BH, that’s kind of my thought. The wine Barrell and all the other finishes they have. But, if your pallet enjoyed, that’ as all tha matters!

First couple of sips I thought maybe it was an IPA, after those few sips it was really good

This IS an IPA and really smooth. Though some IPAs send me into a sneezing fit, this is one of them.

I'd drink both again, even with the sneezes
