Sippin’ on an Old Fashioned with my dad. Started off with a Sazerac Rye neat, but it’s too hot still for the neat glass! Needed something cool and a little sweeter!

Classic! I had my first ever a 12 yr. Tullamore Dew yesterday, neat, at a local Irish Pub. I’m no expert on whiskey but that was pretty smooth.

3 fingers of Basil Hayden + a solid drip of Sweet Red Vermouth

Finished the single barrel last night and brought in the small batch select, I feel like I’m in for a treat.

From what I’ve read - the OESV Four Roses Single Barrel is the absolute best. A bit price but if you find it, buy it because it’s one of the best1

I really enjoyed that Single Barrel, so I hope this will meet expectations, I will definitely keep an eye out for OESV. I also really love the single barrel Cask Strength Jack you suggested, might be my favorite whiskey pour in bourbons, I really like the higher proof pours.

Haha! I love it! I also love the high proof bottles. If you happen to have a Total Wine around you, give the Wolcott Rickhouse Reserve a try. It’s high proof, 120 and $43 out here. I’d put that up there with some of my favorites and I’m hoping it stays easy to find being it’s a Total Wine bourbon.

But glad you are enjoying these!

My last two pours and cigar of the holiday weekend.

Great way to end the holiday weekend. Seeing that you like cask and barrel strength whiskies, not sure if you have had it but Knob Creek Single Barrel cask strength is great, 120 proof. I like the fact that what is being sipped is straight from the barrel.

I have not had it, but I’m definitely leaning to cask, barrel, so I appreciate the heads up, I will start looking for it to tempt me.

I appreciate the idea of less is more.

Enjoying a Chianti after dinner on the deck.

I do enjoy a Chianti, I’m a sucker for most anything Italian.

            Watch that movie every year.

Sorry no pictures from yesterday. Picked up some fresh pressed apple cider and local honey on Saturday and came up with this yesterday.

          3 oz. Apple Cider
2 oz. Knob Creek Smoked Maple Bourbon
          1 oz. Lemon Juice
          about 1 teaspoon honey

Shook up until honey was dissolved and served in an Old Fashioned glass with a giant ice cube.

It was fall in a glass with a touch of spring from the maple flavor in the bourbon.

Here is the Bourbon I used.

Another winner from New Holland. Now to track down their new bourbon. Consider it a Dragon’s Milk “lite”. Excellent in its own way if you don’t feel like the one beer and done approach with Dragon’s Milk.

We are also waiting for the new red label beer to show up. It is a red ale. Duh.

When in Kauai…..I find the local bourbon and drink it!
