We had our presentation tonight. 2 Sotol’s, a Mezcal, and a prickly pear-orange blossom Gin.

it was fun and I was so nervous! The Gin was so good and smooth! It was room temp, I can only imagine how good it would be shaken and strained.

Sotol’s are interesting. It’s like Mezcal Lite. The one in the middle is from Chihuahua. The blue bottle is from Texas. Making Sotol uses the desert spoon plant and is much more sustainable. I liked the one from Texas better, due to its complexity. A lot of the tasters preferred the one from chihuahua.

mezcal is made from any agave plant (as opposed to tequila which is blue agave only). This was tasty. I can’t say I will want to sip mezcal on a regular basis, but it’s cool learning about it.

gboss aawwwww…. Thank you! That warms my heart!

This gin is definitely for “I don’t like gin” people. Attjack what kind of cocktail would you make with a prickly pear gin?

I wish I had been there for the tasting. That gin sounds really interesting. Without having tasted it, how about making a Prickly Pear gin buck?

      1 1/2 ounces gin
      1/2 ounce lemon
      Ginger beer to top
      Garnish: prickly pear wedge

Sparkling water with a twist of lime.
    Just opened the lawnmower season..

          Nice looking beer!

The other day I found two bottles of bourbon barrel stout that I brewed in 2021, they were not great then, and are less great now, also I found this bottle of rum on sale last night for 18 dollars, normally 24 I believe. I need to do some more comparison, but for an 18-24 bottle, I like it more than others I have tried there, all were ok to good, this is just a bit better, at 18, I want to go back and buy out the last few bottles, just to keep for future.

I saw a few bottles of rum that reminded me of you this past weekend. Made me wonder if you had tried them. This plantation name - I may have seen a few from them as well.

Hope you are enjoying all three delights there!

I;m definitely a fan of Plantation, although prior to this, my only experience with plantation has been the XO, but I had 2 more pours of rum today, and switched over to a similarly priced Mount Gay Barbados rum, definitely their eatery level, and then this plantation again, I’m young in my rum path, but Plantation at 24 dollars regularly priced, and their rum at 40 plus dollars are both equally enjoyable for their offering, makes me want to try more,

Bourbon. Lots of bourbon! Click image for larger version

          The toilet was occupied?

Enjoying this new to me cocktail - a Brooklyn Cocktail, cousin to a Manhattan according to the bar book, as it calls for Rye and brings a bit more spice because of that. This is good - especially after working in the yard all afternoon and installing a tonneau cover on the son’s truck. Cheers to you all and Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all the wonderful Moms out there!!!

Taste testing NA beer for the market. It’s all right. Kinda like coors light light. But, it is NA beer. It would be perfect for our micheladas. Currently, we just use bubbly water.
