Paden: [picks up a bottle in the back room] What's this?

      Stella: That's the good stuff.

      Paden: Yeah? How good?

[Stella smiles and pours two glasses. They toast]

Paden: Here's to the good stuff.

Stella: May it last a long time.

      Definitely my favorite bourbon.

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof B517. New to the collection. A full bodied bourbon's bourbon. Wouldn't have guessed it's 124 proof. Yessir, that'll do just fine...

Huskee I seem to recall the original high test Stagg as being something in this same genre, but don't remember having tried the Jr. After reading some reviews of Jr. I don't think I'll be in the market for it anytime soon

I of course temper it with some water, I don't like whiskey to be a painful experience, and in so doing you not only prolong the bottle some, but you really taste the flavor of the Stagg Jr which is wonderful. The same goes for the E.W. in my opinion.

DWCowles Cheers! Long day. 380 of my closest friends for dinner. Wasn't expecting that many. Oops.
Having some of this for a few minutes. Then off to bed. Not pricy at all. Not bad for the price either.

      Nice!

Well, during dinner my son brought me a 32 oz mug of beer that I didn’t ask for, poor kid didn’t know the tap he poured it from was a beer that is about 12% ABV, so it took a while to work my way down the glass enough to see that there was something written on it.... apparently I get to take a more active role in his upcoming wedding!

" Not sure how best man as Dad works but got a while to figure it out..."

Just don't tell any "dirty diapers when he was a kid" stories in your best man speech and you'll be fine! He probably wouldn't care much but you're future DIL might! 😀

Congrats! Sounds like you have a great relationship with your son!

Haha - last dirty diaper I actually can remember was one so bad I took him outside and hosed him off. I do NOT miss diapers!

Huskee you like your wine. I recently rediscovered how much I like Rosso di Montalcino. It’s fantastic. A poor man’s Brunello. Great value. I don’t see it very often but I’ve got a new wine store that I like that carries it. Grab some if you see it. Not big wine. Perfect w chicken and pork. Ok w steak but I prefer something bigger w red meat Click image for larger version

Huskee, yeah Sangiovese. Interesting, I'm more of a fan of the Italian and French wines than those big Napa reds. I find them often too jammy or syrupy...not sure the right terminology.

Jammy is good, syrupy es no bueno. Italy and their reds. Yikes. It's another lanuguage

Yes, a lot of them are IMO too. I stay away from those. I think jammy and fruit-forward is a less desirable trait in a cabernet sauv and a merlot or zinfandel, but that is more appealing to the masses so I've noticed more of them making mainstream. I prefer dry, peppery & bold.
