Red Man I can’t tell from the label… what is the agave used? I’m acting like I’m all that because I am just learning about mezcal. The beverage program I run at the market I work at has really opened my eyes! Mezcal is as complex as scotch or whiskey or, etc. who knew!?!

And I have to say, when it comes to sustainability and respecting the land… Los mezcaleros sabe todo!

Here you go SheilaAnn . This is one of my favorite mezcal’s.

      Thank you Red Man

Have you ever had Sangrita? It’s kinda like a “virgin Bloody Mary” chaser to sip with mezcal. Spicy and tart and refreshing! Tomato, orange, lime juices, two hot sauces, michelada mix and a splash of agave. I’ll grab the formal recipe if you are interested.

I’ve never heard of a sangrita SheilaAnn . It sounds interesting and I’d love the recipe.

I’m really enjoying FR, I’ve only had this, and their entry level, which is really good as well for a mid week pour, or mixing. I’m excited to try a few others from them along the way Any recommendations in their line up?

It’s been a day…and this Old Fashioned was great to start the prep for dinner

I love hibiscus in cocktails! Try it with Mezcal instead of tequila. I really like the depth mezcal adds to cocktails.

Red Man We keep Mezcal in our liquor cabinet so we shall give it a go. My wife loves the smoky taste of it better than me.

Had a Mohs surgery today to remove a small basal cell carcinoma - at least my sixth Mohs procedure, I've lost count. Now I look like Jake Gittes:

Here's a non-alcoholic something: Fever Tree Ginger Beer, Maraschino cherry, and some cherry juice at the bottom:

Delicious, especially as I got towards the bottom! I would have added gin if I were drinking tonight, but I need my head clear right now.

I think it was WayneT who turned me onto Fever Tree. Anyhow, cheers!

so honestly not a fan, aftertaste is actually ok, but the initial hit is heavy alcohol... but it's only 5%. A good long island will kick your butt because it doesn't taste like alcohol and hits MUCH harder than 5%

Grabbed a handle of Benchmark. Mid twenties. Extremely nice bourbon.
I am looking to trim a few pounds, so am using black tea as a mixer/stretcher.

Had Victoria During a visit to Sydney in '89. Their beer on tap was wonderful. Went to the "Bowling Clubs". (Are you riiight?)

Picked u- my August selection today, although I still need to pick up a bottle of rum.

I had this Bulliet Rye last week, when we were out for a bit. Really enjoyed it, and added it to my weekly sipper selection,

I also picked up a Balvenie 14 Caribbean cask Scotch, and I purchased a bottle of Aperol, only because I seem to see Aperol mentioned in lot’s of cocktails I may want to make my wife.

question for others. I see Campari a lot here, as well as Grand Marnier listed a lot. I don’t drink most cocktails that look good as they have simple sugar or other sugary additions… but what other side bottles do you think are important for a cocktail party?

I was going to ask on vermouths, I keep a dry vermouth around for cooking. I will get a sweet as well, any favorites in brands?

I have not had the Balvenie 14 year old, I’ve wanted to many times, just never pulled the trigger, always stayed with the 12 double wood, But I’ve decided to really mix up my collection a bit, as long as they are not peaty, I enjoy the sherry cask scotch’s the most.

When you crack that Balvenie, let me know. I’ll have a sipper with you!

As for vermouth - I have Gallo for sweet (cheap, bottom shelf stuff I think) and Noilly Prat for dry (not the cheapest, but still cheap). I use both, the Noilly Prat more often for martinis. I’m sure there is better vermouth, but that’s what I use.

            The cocktail mentioned above

            1 1/2 oz vodka
            1 oz Cynar
            1/2 oz lemon juice

Build over ice in a Collins glass. Top with pamplmousse soda water.
