HawkerXP You better believe it. Cold this time of year too. But overall it's a good spot. They brought me treats, a bowl of water, and let me roam around the patio freely because the place empty when we got there. They even sell a puppuccino but my parents don't buy me crap like that.

Right now…is some Old Forester 1920…but earlier in the day, it’s been fun with the wife. Went to a new spot for some Pho, then a winery/distillery for a tasting of various wines and whiskeys. These are on the higher side of rye. Left to right - whiskey, rye whiskey, rum rye whiskey and an Imperial Malt Whiskey. The IMW was my favorite of the four, as the stout flavors really came out on the back end of the taste. The rum rye was good as well. These are all made in ABQ - Taylor Garrett Whiskey.
The wife, she had a flight of various reds and then a dessert wine that she wasn’t fond of. Too sweet for her.
And then afterwards, while playing the guitar, I sipped on an Old Fashioned - by way of WT Rye 101 Huskee
was a fun day! And the pho was top notch!!!!!

Whiskeyman53 I had a sample of it someone sent me from another board I’m on. I was hesitant to spend the $ on it, but it was amazing! The sample I had, I compared to the 12yr and 9yr SB Reserve, and the 18yr was excellent! All were good, actually. But the 18 was special and I bought it to help celebrate my 18th work anniversary coming up in a few months. I’ll post more as once i crack it open.

I took a bartending class in late 70’s. The instructor said a stirred gin can bruise the gin. I guess the metal contact could change the flavor. IE shaken not stirred. Dunno, I was only the student. Although most shakers are metal. That’s what was told to me.

I enjoy this guy’s channel - has one video a week and does a great job discussing the cocktails. This week - Martini!!!! And provides a few thoughts on the shaken or stirred cocktail as well as a few tips on glass size. Fun video!

Kicking off the Anniversary dinner with an incredible bottle of Tawny Port gifted to my wife and I by WayneT, and a nice Californian red decanting for dinner.
