Thought I’d make some drinks I saw on instagram so I bought some banana liqueur. Well that particular cocktail was terrible so I now have a whole bottle. Started looking up banana liqueur cocktails and found this: Banana Maple Bourbon Smash. Actually pretty tasty. Probably better in the summer though.

Dewesq55, it’s a true sipping rum. The main difference between this rum and its Caribbean cousins is molasses in place of cane sugar. The weather here pulls the liquid in and out of the barrel more than it would in a hot climate leading to a more bourbon like quality. I just compared it to a Jamaican 12 year rum, both are excellent and completely different in good ways.

Dewesq55 It is yummy. Its just not as stout a drink as I'd like. The coconut rum really sets it off.

ecowper I'm not that regimented. Pork has been the highlight. Tomorrow cheese steak sub. We'll have our traditional meal, brisket (her version) her potato latkes and her home made apple sauce. Been doing for 50 plus years. Dipping the latkes in the apple sauce is bliss. And the cookies both Nancy and my daughter bake. All I have to do is enjoy. Did I mention the people around the table?

Light menorah. I can't remember when we exchanged gifts. Anniversary, birthday, holiday. For me this year, the carbon steel pan is a starter for me. I'll most likely find something else. I'm a bit more focused on self present giving. She just shakes her head, not surprised. Going on 53 years of marriage and 73 years young waking up and being able to move is a plus. We do but appreciate it more.
