Thought I’d make some drinks I saw on instagram so I bought some banana liqueur. Well that particular cocktail was terrible so I now have a whole bottle. Started looking up banana liqueur cocktails and found this: Banana Maple Bourbon Smash. Actually pretty tasty. Probably better in the summer though.

Nice! How is it? Is it really a sippin' rum the way you have it pictured?

Dewesq55, it’s a true sipping rum. The main difference between this rum and its Caribbean cousins is molasses in place of cane sugar. The weather here pulls the liquid in and out of the barrel more than it would in a hot climate leading to a more bourbon like quality. I just compared it to a Jamaican 12 year rum, both are excellent and completely different in good ways.

      White Buffalo

1.5 oz Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream

      0.5 oz Coconut Rum

Add ice, shake, pour over ice.

      Its delicious.

Sounds yummy! I haven't seen the BT Bourbon cream. I'll have to keep an eye out. Although the selection here in the state owned stores is pretty limited, so I'm not holding my breath to find it.

Dewesq55 It is yummy. Its just not as stout a drink as I'd like. The coconut rum really sets it off.

Years ago, the CEO of BV Vineyards always asked after a flowery wine description, ...but does it taste good? Because that's what matters most.

ecowper I'm not that regimented. Pork has been the highlight. Tomorrow cheese steak sub. We'll have our traditional meal, brisket (her version) her potato latkes and her home made apple sauce. Been doing for 50 plus years. Dipping the latkes in the apple sauce is bliss. And the cookies both Nancy and my daughter bake. All I have to do is enjoy. Did I mention the people around the table?

RichieB oh, regimented is too much …. We light the menorah, give a small gift, or have a drink together. One big celebratory meal. And we are a mixed family, so Hanukkah and Christmas happen all in some weird, crazy mix

Light menorah. I can't remember when we exchanged gifts. Anniversary, birthday, holiday. For me this year, the carbon steel pan is a starter for me. I'll most likely find something else. I'm a bit more focused on self present giving. She just shakes her head, not surprised. Going on 53 years of marriage and 73 years young waking up and being able to move is a plus. We do but appreciate it more.

            Christmas Old Fashioned

            2.5 oz Michter's Rye
            1 bar spoon simple syrup
            1 Egbert cocktail cherry
            1/4 bar spoon "cherry juice"
            3 dashes Scrappy's cardamom bitters
            1 large rock
            1 orange twist

stir the simple syrup, cherry juice, bitters in a chilled double old fashioned glass
add the ice cube, pour the rye over top
wipe rim of glass with the orange twist and then express it over the glass
garnish with cherry and orange twist

            Enjoy Christmas in a glass
