barelfly SheilaAnn For Science I went and made a Dirty MSG martini. Instead of olive brine I made a solution w 1/2 c water and 1 TBSP MSG. Used 1/4 oz w 3oz gin and 1/2 oz vermouth. REALLY different than olive brine. VERY savory. I really liked the flavor but I’ve been drinking “clean” martinis lately and I think the msg kind of overpowers the flavor of the gin.

Ok this is delicious. Traditionally a Carajillo is 2oz freshly pulled espresso and 2oz Licor 43. I added an oz of rum. My goodness this is tasty.

      Purc haha!

I am a fan of a Manhatton. With some tweaks. I prefer my Manhatton with very little sweet vermouth and a delicate wheat bourbon like Makers Mark. I found a red vermouth that is not too sweet. It is called A.G. Perino. According to the label, it is made in Walla Walla, Washington. I am in Northern California, and I can find it at most Safeway and related stores. Not expensive.

A cherry in the Manhatton is nice looking. But never pour maraschino cherry juice into the drink! If you do, your blood sugar will spike, and your palate will be bruised. Enjoy!

Paper Plane. Our favorite bartender on the cruise made it for Barbara one night and she loved it. I started making them on occasion when we got home.

fzxdoc Do you have a Total Wine anywhere nearby? They have it around here at the two I regularly go to…and the one in El Paso that I occasionally stop by when passing through there. (Generally only to pick up a particular tequila that only they carry.)

FWIW, they have it at all three locations for about $46 a bottle.

The closest Total Wine is about 2 hours away, surfdog . I'll for sure stop in there the next time we drive to that city to see a show, play, or symphony offering. Thanks.

Interesting video to watch. Lemon and lime are the same word in Spanish. So he says "lemon" when he's clearly using lime. Also, in the beginning, when he says "TOH-nic" It didn't register as "tonic" until I watched it a second time. Have you tried it?

        Keeping it simple and delicious.

I like the coozie! I have a few of them from my 3rd place prize in the give away a few months ago. I don't drink much from cans these days so I haven't used them yet.

Sunday evening relaxing on the deck with some Duval St. Spiced Rum from Key West First Legal Rum Distillery a Powstanie Connecticut cigar and doing a little reading.

To me, yes. On the nose specifically, which then brings out the flavor on the palette. And…we have a freaking ton of flutes that never get used, so… 😂 that too! but I do think it adds to the experience.

I’m confused… Are you saying that people drink coffee without a little something special added? Eeeww.

I bought a pineapple and a mango distillate about a month ago. Made by the Banhez Mezcal cooperative in the rainy season when Mezcal production slows down. Made with 100% ripe pineapple (or mango) then fermented and distilled. No other ingredients are added so the fruit flavor is incredible. But not sweet like European fruit brandies. 90 proof. It’s super interesting but I wasn’t exactly sure what to do with them. Today I found an excellent use - Negronis.

I like Negronis, but they took getting used to. I actually hated my first one, but I persisted, and now I think they are delicious.

Old Fashion and Moscow Mule for the wife to kick of the weekend at the lake.
