Do you like blancos? If so, you might want to check out Lalo. They only make a blanco at present. But the reason I suggest it is because it was started by the grandson of Don Julio González, yeah, as in Don Julio Tequila…with the family’s blessing. The boy learned his craft. LOL
First I had it was at Taste of Old Town (San Diego) and was impressed enough to purchase a couple bottles the following day.

I need something to wash this little bit of rib roast down with:
This seemed about right:
TL;DR - Chateau Pavie Macquin Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 2005
I bought this as a wine future almost 20 years ago, along with a few cases of the 2005 Bordeaux vintage. It was a very good year for Bordeaux wines. It's been in my cellar for 18 years and I only had one bottle of this. Anyhow, I'm kind of flexing here, as my kids would say.
Note the brown edge of wine...absolutely perfect straight from the bottle. This was very, very good. My DW loved it, even skipping dessert to have another glass.
And if you have seen any of my other posts here, you will know this is a big splurge for me, as I tend to drink in the $10-15 range.

SheilaAnn , short answer: yes, somewhat. I'm no expert, but I learned that for older wines, you drink when you open, no decanting. My DW said it was better once it opened up after about 20 minutes. I reserved a glass for the next night (vacuum sealed) and it was slightly different, not better nor worse. I think the best approach is to pour a splash right after opening and give the old whiff-and-sip, and use your judgement.

Now moving in the opposite direction from my last post:
Quinta de Azevedo, Vinho Verde from Portugal 2022
TL;DR - an old young wine, dry and medium body
Vinho verde literally means 'green wine' in Portuguese. This variety is meant to be drunk young, thus the 'green' descriptor. 2022 is getting to be old for vinho verde, thus I'm drinking an old young wine. I consider this to be almost a medium body, when compared to other vinhos verde, though others may consider it to be light-bodied. This is a very good representation of the variety. This is a little bit different than others in that these wines are usually lightly carbonated, whereas the carbonation is missing here. Not a deal breaker.
It is low ABV, 11.5%, easy to drink, but no push over. It went very well with a charcuterie plate we received for Easter. Yum.

Other useful bits...
KitchenAid 7-qt Pro Line stand mixer
A Black & Decker food processor that I can't seem to murder
A couple of immersion blenders, one a "consumer" model & the other a "high end" Italian thing. Yes, the Italian one is a bit better, but only marginally

All-Clad pots & pans, along with some cast iron...everything from 7" Skookie pans to 8.5qt Dutch ovens

Seems I managed to not post what I had for a couple of nights over the past week or so…so here we go with a quick selection that I did mange to snap but failed to post. Derp LOL
This was a Xmas present…not a brand that I’ve tried before. Tasty…but with a somewhat lingering smokiness. Not quite sure where that came from. But it’s still drinkable…but very anise forward…so if that’s not your thing, stay clear. My GF was convinced that I was trying to poison her. ROFL Despite her asking to taste it.
A nice Petite Sirah from one of my fave wineries. They truly have my number. The phone rings, I answer…”Hey this is Brooke from Jaxon Keys…” Yeah, I’m hooked. LOL But sometimes they have some great deals…like 20 bucks a bottle for stuff that normally goes for 40-45. :-) And it really is limited because most of their wines are 1000 cases or less. I just picked up a case of their latest award winning wines. All gold, double gold, and a best of show for $249. That’s only $20.75 a bottle. Score!
This stuff is TASTY!
But you better plan on not needing to drive a golf ball, let alone something with wheels after a couple of these. Yeah, that’s 12.3%. I’m a professional, but these will stop some people in their tracks. LOL
