A trusted friend and wine connoisseur turned me onto De Negoce, a wine retailer. They buy up wines and vet them and rate them and sell them at a steep discount. He gifted me one of their cabernets and it was wowing. And $20-something. Grocery store pricing, but $40-50 quality IMO. Anyway, he gave me a $25 off link and I ordered a case of their wines. A mix of red zins and pettie sirahs (my personal favorite), average of $15-20/bottle with free shipping.
This is one of their petite sirahs. Wonderful. If you're not aware, a petite sirah is a very bold red, typically more bold than a cabernet sauvignon which is often hailed as the boldest red. Petite sirah gets its name from the smaller grape size, which makes it have a larger skin-to-meat ratio, and the skins are the bold, pleasantly bitter tannic element. Therefore, most petitie sirahs outweigh an equal cabernet sauvignon on a boldness and tannin scale.
If anyone wants to give this retailer a try, please PM me, I can give you a code for $25 off your first order. They sell in increments of 6, with 12+ being free shipping.
Ok, geek speak over; TLDR = this is great stuff!
