After a very difficult week of work it's time to decompress and relax with my 3 favorite activities. Enjoying a nice 85* day in Mass smoking beef ribs, soon to take care of mowing the lawn and after dinner a sipper of rye whiskey at the firepit with my wife. But now it's PBR and southern rock on the speakers.

A nice little Montepulciano, Saladini Pilastri Rosso Piceno Piediprato. I like this one better than the Piceno from the same producer. I let it blow out for about 45 minutes after running through the aerator and decanting. Probably overkill, could have just decanted. Anyhow, easy to drink.
It is one of my splurges at $15.99/bottle at Total Wine, though I usually get it with the coupons. Anyhow, good price point for a good wine.

WayneT 's British mule got me hankering for some ginger beer. I've got about 4 varieties of ginger beer in the, so I tried a new one tonight:
Bundaberg, Australian, cute little bottle. It is pretty mild, not a ton of spice or bite. Not bad, but probably won't buy again. I like my ginger beer to take a bite of my tongue when I drink it.

Thanks for sharing WayneT, I may do this. I've made root beer from scratch, but it never turned out well. I bought some glass gallon jugs a couple months ago, now I have a use for them, haha. I'll do a post if I actually go through with this.

My go to ginger beer for a summertime ginger and bourbon is Goya Jamaican Style. Nice bite.

Huskee Maybe you should consider modifying the page count or starting WAYDRN III so it doesn’t appear we are a bunch of lushes, drunks or winos. I’m speaking for myself but want to make everyone complicit. 🤪

The second of the four ginger beers I have. This one has chili pepper extract and it definitely has that capsaicin burn on the lips

It is really good over ice, not too sweet. I mixed with a splash of sugar-free cherry syrup, delicious early afternoon non-alcoholic beverage before wine o'clock hits later today.
Since I'm on a ginger beer kick this week, thanks to WayneT and his British mule inspiration, my next ginger beer will probably be Aldi's house brand (Summit) and then I'll have some Barritts to round it out.

Still got a little bit of work left so trying to wait until at least 4pm to grab a beer out of the garage fridge. My bud light keg is out right now so it will be a Mikes Harder lemonade.

Continuing the ginger beer cycle, #3 of 4: Summit Ginger Beer from Aldi. I think this is a seasonal offering at Aldi that I probably bought last winter. Anywho.....
Not quite as spicy as the Q ginger beer, just a little sweeter. This is the full sugar version. There is a nice burn/bite there, but I don't think they use chili peppers in this. It has a nice warming feel that I like from ginger. It has good balance and I can see it will probably mix well in cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I'm not sure what 'botanically brewed' means, but it is a nice drink.
