Heat has let up so the garden has picked up. Had to replant green beans because the heat triggered blossom drop.

Picked over a dozen tomatoes just today. This is our counter bowl for tomatoes we will eat today. Love our tomato sandwiches on white bread and mounds of Duke’s mayo for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes dinner.

Orka. Eating boiled okra, roasted okra, fried okra, and stewed okra. Okra, the plant that keeps on giving and also has lovely blossoms.

They weren’t suppose to be banana peppers, but surprise surprise, we have banana peppers.

Another labelling mistake, probably mine. 4 Sunbright peppers turned out to be bell peppers so we ended up with 10 bell pepper plants.

Other peppers like jalapeños are coming in gang busters and we have to process and pack every night.
Slow start but quickly catching up to match last year.

hoovarmin. Our report. Delicious. My wife who hates okra even tried some and said it was good. First nice thing she has said about okra in the 55 years I’ve known her.🙂

Donw I feel like a missionary must feel with they get someone to convert 😂

Thanks to the damp, rainy, steamy weather, our huge, beautiful tomatoes have been infected by fungus, and it's too late to treat them.

        Sorry to hear that

This basil is going nuts! I love it! Scroll up a few posts and you can see the growth in just a week! And this was after I cut 4-5 branches back for the caprese salad this weekend. And the chile/pepper plants are developing as well!

Thank you all for the suggestions. Makes me happy having some success in this planter.

Looks great. How much does one of those containers run and where do you get them? My dad has them on his horse farm for watering the horses.

hoovarmin - we picked it up at either Tractor Supply or a farm/feed store near us. I dont know how much it was though. Wife bought it a few years ago and I’ve taken over the gardening responsibilities.

I know it’s just basil, but I can’t believe the growth since end of July…just 2-3 weeks!!! And the various pepper plants are about to go bangers as well!

I see pesto in your future.

Cut about an 18oz bunch of basil today from the bushes and yep…pesto time! 10 cups worth split up into 1/2 cup portions and frozen for later use. Man this was excellent with a few crackers during taste testing! I still have some basil left on the plants to see if it will continue to produce as well as all of the Thai Basil I need to do something with.

Thought this is a good thread for this. Does not show anything growing but hope it will soon. New grow lights and seed starting setup.

          Pretty purple leaves.
What type of tomato is that?

Finster - They are a determinate variety of heirloom red cherry tomatoes that I got from Aerogarden. In normal light, the leaves aren't nearly as purple as they appear in the photo. The aerogarden has a mixture of red, blue, and white led's in its light and when I took the pic, it was dimming and slowly shifting colors as it simulated "dusk" late in its 17-hour growing "day". Weird ... but the tomato plants seem to like it ...

Just this weekend’s haul. After all the very hot weather and then a period of very cool nights I wondered how successful the garden would turn out this year. In the end it turned out okay.

We (Mrs. H) have "Christmas" catus as well. Shared cuttings with ...??? many friends.
Sometimes Thanksgiving....Christmas....January??? They just keep going!

A few years ago if you had told me coastal Maryland could still grow tomatoes and eggplants in late November I would have called you crazy. Now I guess I’m crazy. This week’s harvest so far.
