From wikipedia:
The Black Krim is an heirloom tomato originating from Crimea. The plant is open-pollinated, indeterminate, bearing 8 ounce flattened globe fruits that are dark reddish-purple to black with green/brown shoulders. In 1990 it became the first "black" tomato to be commercially available in the United States.

Well, the Rancho Gordo bean experiment is probably over. Got rid of the bugs the first time around but it stunted plant growth. I did get a handful of bean pods out of it. I planted the other planter later and they grew like rockets... unfortunately I suspect it got too hot when they flowered and nothing happened. There has been another flowering attempt, but today I noticed aphids and whatever these fly things are... killed everything with fire because it made me feel better...
No bugs on the other planter so I'll let it go for now...
Not sure if this is showing what your are growing or what you are cooking. We grew the tomato’s and canned the sauce, I am going to add it to this thread. Fresh tomato sauce going in the pantry, 14 quarts to far this season.

Need advice from our farming community. These are the Thai basil seeds I planted as of today. I dropped multiple seeds, so multiple plants have sprouted in each container. First question is how big do they need to be before I move them to the large planter? Second question is, do I need to separate the individual plants when I transplant? Many thanks.
The nice thing about basil, and other herbs in the mint family, is that once you have established plants you can take cuttings and clone them. Just take a cutting from right above a leaf node, throw it in some water for a week or so until you see some roots forming and then put it in some soil. Boom, new basil plant.Works with oregano, basil, mint, rosemary, thyme.
Processed another 12 1/2 pints of pickled brown jalapeños, I've reached my goal of 60 1/2 pints, but don't tell my pepper plants, they have no intention of slowing down.
I guess what you are growing does not have to be vegetables? 6 weeks ago I hatched 20 Cotournix quail. Have 20 more in the incubator. 6 weeks later they started laying.
Great. Kathy and I raised quail until we moved into our latest home. Really enjoyed it and I know you will too. I loved watching them hatch. We also raised Colinus virginianus (Bobwhites) mainly for restocking our friends and neighbors.fields. For those we had to pay the state a whole $5 a year for a wildlife breeders permit.
A man that has 5-6 cookers less than 4 paces away from those boxes, has no room to question what goes on in the garden & backyard!! I will say that the peppers, tomato & zucchini have been really good
The sum total damage from The Storm Of The Century That Wasn't, Particularly, At Least Around Here.
Two branches off the pepper plants in the front bed. We shall rebuild, I suppose.
Tons of green pods on both branches.
It would help if I knew what either variety actually was, since they overwintered and the plant tags have gone missing. Which means i'm gonna have to taste 'em, and I'm fairly sure at least one is a superhot. I'm skeert, Pa.
5.5 inches of rain here in Altadena, but fortunately it was a long steady rain rather than downpours. No damage at our place, but we were rewarded with a haul of ripe tomatoes today.
