I planted this 5 gallon Philadelphus about 30 years ago and have just let it go, I'm 6' tall for comparison. Gave up doing a blossom count :-)

I've got a lot of peppers going. I'm running behind this year - I used last year's seeds and many didn't sprout so I had to order more, just got most planted two weeks ago. This 4' X 8' bed of Shishito peppers was the earliest I planted - about 12 of the seeds I planted in the ground in March sprouted in this planter plus I added some later sprouts from peat pots (20 total plants). The lone tomato grew where I planted a pepper seed from a seed pack - not sure if it was an errant tomato seed that got into the seed pack or one from the tomatoes that grew in the planter last year. There are some carrots in between the rows on the left side of the planter.

I have an identical planter to the right that has one row of corn (some seeds didn't sprout so I replanted) and several different peppers: Fish peppers, Zapotec Jalapeno - an heirloom jalapeno from Mexico, Buena Mulata - a purple variety (sourced seeds from two different places and planted 40 - only eight sprouted and only four survived), and Rezha Macedonian. There are also some carrots in between the rows.

Another planter (4' X 24') is at the side of the house, it has one row of corn along the side near the house (just sprouting) 36 Shishito peppers, and 8 Chimayo peppers. More Shishitos and a few other varieties are coming soon.

One last planter (4' X 12') needs dirt but has a thick layer of rotting wood for now. When I get the dirt delivered it will hold the other peppers I have sprouting: Yellow Scotch Bonnets, Big Jims, Cow Horns, Long Cayennes, and Chile Petines.

          I’ll say!!

I didn’t want to start a new post just for this, but I have a question for all those way more experienced than me. A couple of months ago I bought this hibiscus plant at Lowe’s. It had several nice open blooms on it and that continued for a couple of weeks, it always had at least 3-4 beautiful “open” blooms on it. For at least a month now it has plenty of blooms on it but they will not “open up”, they just form and then fall off the stem….not opening up at all. It gets plenty of water, drain holes in the bottom of the pot, and about 4 hours of direct sunlight per day. Other than that the plant is healthy looking. Tried google and couldn’t find out why. Anyone here have any suggestions? Also, anyone know what the reddish plant is called that’s in the pot with the hibiscus? Just curious.

Lots of blooms on it, but after reaching full length where they should open up, they just drop off.

Panhead John, be sure to check the underside of the leaves! I have scale on lemon tree(s) regularly. Neem works but you have to be diligent.

That thing (or things) looks like it’s probably root bound. Bigger pot or open ground, but it (they) needs space.

It’s in a good size planter, I took it out of the original pot I bought it in and transplanted it.

Carpenter bees freak me out. I know they are harmless and just curious, but dang!

Wait, those are the big ole black ones, right?

SheilaAnn Yes, they are the big, black ones. They don't stick around long like the honey bees. I was pretty happy to see something other than honey bees back there. I plan on converting most of the plants to natives or things that the local birds like.
Those dumb carpet roses I have are good for thorns and aphids.

Trumpet Squash: look closely, that’s a dollar bill to show scale. The table seats 8 comfortably. I’m standing on the bench (those are my shoes) to snap the photo.
