WayneT this was a fantastic wine. Let me start by saying that I love central California wines with the mineraly-ness of the wines. I just made that word up.
After about 40 minutes, I poured a taster and puckered up like crazy. It was super tannic. But once I was sipping with that rich ribeye, it completely balanced out. Lots of dark berries and for me, a touch of black pepper. I kept sipping the remainder after the meal and I loved it.

SheilaAnn I was thinking with all that Tannat it would be wound up at opening. Thanks for confirming. I bought a case+ once of Garzon (Uruguay) 100% Tannat a few years back and that’s what informed my thinking. Even after 2 years of cellaring, I had to let it breathe for 2+ hours before it was drinkable. Glad yours opened up for you and I’m sure it was amazing with red meat. I’m guessing the Syrah brought the pepper notes to the mix.
