I am blessed to live near two outstanding breweries. Tonight I'm on Fairwinds Brewing's Howling Gale IPA, out of Lorton, VA, about 10 mi/16 km from the house. 7.0% abv, clean and crisp, you'd never know it was that strong. Reminds me very much of Art Car IPA from the great St. Arnold's brewery in Houston TX. Most delicious.

A clean and crisp ipa? I’m intrigued!

It really is! Great balance between bitterness and hop flavor. Not overly malty so it can be balanced without insane IBU levels, but clearly very heavy on finishing hops for all that great flavor.

      Some OF1910 tonight.

Silver Bullet in a well worn "Arkey Blues Silver Dollar Saloon" koozie.
Bought koozie at the bar… which is located in Bandera, Texas. Cowboy capital of the world.

This is on my list of top 5 mid shelf under $25 steals at Total Wine. Evan Williams single barrel, Larceny, Old Grandad bottled in bond and Jim Beam black round out my top five. Click image for larger version

ID:	1146847 A really nice find while on vacation in Santa Cruz. Mourtaou red from the Cienega Valley in San Benito County. One of the oldest wine regions in California (with 100 year old vines), but not well known. Nice tasting wine.

Dang Elton, it’s 7:30 in the morning!

Taking advantage of the seasonal beers and enjoyed these two last night. Bell's Christmas Ale (Scotch Ale) and Sierra Nevada Celebration Fresh Hop IPA. I should try doing a half n' half with these - dark ale and light ale. In honor of the solstice. Hmmmm.
