Finishing this bottle off today. It’s a really nice pour, being a BIB. Price point isn’t horrible, I think it’s $40 or so and they have a regular bottle as well that I have yet to try. My buddy gave this to me, and it has treated me well!

I’ll have to keep this in mind for the BIB selection, although I think there may be some just as good or better BIBs that are cheaper as well.

Total Wine told me that was a decent sub for Taylor. I wasn't as convinced of that as they were, but I remember it was a pretty good pour.

Huskee I agree. It’s pretty good. But….EHT good…I don’t know about that. But, in reading, it is a sourced juice from Sazerac’s 1792 Barton Distillery. And a higher rye content, according the readings of the interwebs…

FlashHokie They're all good! You should note that, due to some type of local laws in Kentucky, it can be cheaper to buy the whiskey at a KY liquor store, than it is at the distillery. "The Party Source" is a liquor store, that is a 30 second walk from New Riff. Check out what you like at the distillery, and see if they have it cheaper at The Party Source

I usually don’t mix bottles throughout the night, but….tonight I went with three different pours. Old Forester 1920 to start, then Old Forester SB and finished with Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel. I should have stayed with 1920 for the final little sipper, as the ECTB is a bit off. But, this photo fits well with a toasted barrel sip I will say, these three bottles are excellent! And the OF is something that will always be in the cabinet!

Hell yes. It's funny.......10 years to the day of being on the wagon and I can still appreciate this shot. Nothing like bourbon/scotch/whiskey and an open flame. I do miss that part of it. Enjoy!

This is my favorite rye I've had so far. It really opens up after a week or so and has notes of maple syrup on the nose and palate.

Great choice! I didn't care for it, at first, because it's sweeter than I care for. I'm also not a fan of finished whiskey, because whatever type of barrel they're finished in tends to overwhelm the base spirit. This one does too but, for some reason, it works. It's a great "dessert" pour.

I also have enjoyed this bottle. My buddy had it and rye isn’t my first pick, but I wanted to see how it was as I love AE!

barelfly I can respect that and don't hold back!!!! My avatar pic was taken at one of our Dallass/Redskins game tailgates. At that one, we burned Tony Romo, in effigy. I know that your not an Iggles fan, because you post in complete sentences with coherent thoughts. My nephews are Boys fans too, so I'm used to the abuse!!

I’ve not heard of the Pikesville brand. And if you are sipping the rye, you must enjoy it. They have a bourbon variety?

Pikesville Rye is my favorite rye whiskey. It's not a brand, but a whiskey distilled by Heaven Hill.

barelfly If you see it, buy it! It's ~ $50.00 - $55.00 in our neck of the woods. Pikesville Rye is my "deserted island" rye.

Enjoying an extended evening on the patio with the heater going….and a sipper of Oregon Spirits BIB Bourbon. Really nice bottle, but the price has jumped a bit lately and I don’t think it’s worth what I see it going for these days. I had a gift card to TW and picked this up based on the regular bottle they make that is really good. But, regardless, this has been a nice bottle to sip on!

barelfly It's excellent and we always have a bottle on-hand. I bought the decanter, and glass, at the distillery. It's a few hours from home, and we always stop in, when we're inthe neighborhood. I like most of their whiskey, but love the John J. Bowman, most of all.

Visiting my daughter this weekend for her graduation…so had to make a stop at the great store they have here in town. So many finds that aren’t offered in New Mexico. I could’ve spent some bills but only walked away with this. Perhaps next time I’ll pick up something more. But thought i would give this a try, haven’t seen this and have heard it’s a good pour. First sips seem to be good, drinks a little hotter than 114 I’d say but see how that mellows after being opened a bit.

The other bottles that caught my eye - Early Times BIB, Distillery 291 Barrel Proof @130, Bardstown and Blue Run Spirits. The last three weren’t cheap and I haven’t done homework on them, so decided to wait before getting any of them.

I also picked up a sampler pack that I’ll show next week - but local to Colorado and was a cool packaged deal that I saw at the chocolate shop - that I also found a honey whiskey infused truffle that was excellent!

Can't go wrong with OGD114. It like the BiB, but on steroids and you get a lot of bang for your buck with this one. Dollar-for-dollar, it's a bargain, for a barrel proof whiskey. Drop a small cube, or a splash, and it sings. It's killer in an Old Fashioned.

I have not had the 15. but, I do like the 12…and I have an unopened 18 waiting for a special day coming up in a few weeks to crack it open.

How is this bottle? The 12 is dynamite, especially for $62!

barelfly The 15 year is great but, for the money, I prefer the 12 yr, which costs 1/2 as much. I've never seen one, so I snagged it, but it's not likely that I would buy it again. There's too much great whiskey out there for less$$$

Here is some of my collection of whiskey. Lumberyard batch Booker's, chapter 1 Little Book, Big Man, Small batch first in the named Booker's series and JD Sinatra select. And the big gallon jug(empty) of Seagrams, late 70s bottle I think.

Booker's has went up. Got my 2015 before the pricing shot up, same with the Little Book Chapter 1. CandySueQ my son got me that Sinatra has a gift. I want to open it, but I also want to save it, I am conflicted! That is a PBJ with a kick!

volsmoker I quit buying Booker's when the price went North of $60.00. It's a shame that the price skyrocketed, because many of the releases were excellent. Drink that Sinatra!
