I'm glad I can't accommodate the Pit with snow and ice BBQing pictures. It's 73 degF and sunny here in the San Diego area. I do love living in an area without snow and ice. Had enough of that the winter I spent in Korea with the Air Force back in the early 70's. It was fun as a young kid growing up in Detroit Lakes Minnesota but not so much fun as an older adult.

Nice. Followed so I can post my winter pics.

We'll be watching here to possibly post some good winter cookin' shots into "HOT From The Pit!" too, so if you cook in bad weather, give us a pic of your cooking weather and what you're cooking (of course), you just might be a star!

That red glow below the water pan in the first pic is sweet!

This was in my Facebook memories today, pics are from Dec 9th 2018:

I was stirring some Brunswick stew when this happened:

          So I had to improvise:

            ..., ..., ...!

This was also in my FB memories for Dec 9th. I took almost identical pictures from my kitchen window two years apart. Brunswick Stew is in the crock pot in both pictures, i like Brunswick Stew when it snows.

Well, how’s the weather today? We’re supposed to get 4-8”, the first real snow of the year for us.

The high for today is upper 40's and sunny. No snow for us yet this year...

We were supposed to get 2-4" today, then yesterday it was lowered to 1-3", now it's just a dusting this evening. That's fine with me, I only want it if it will stay, melting a day later is frustrating with the constant mud & ice. Andrrr

No snow yet for me to cook in but it’s just as well as I would have no time anyway. We did get a nice 1/10” of ice the other evening. I didn’t get any pics as I was busy applying ice melt for 6 hours…

Cooked a maple bacon slab yesterday. Not too cold (30F) and just a dusting of snow. This is a desert after all 😊 Gonna be single-digits for a while, and i have to cut and split more wood, so IDK for a while. It might warm me up, but there's ice under all the snow. I might slip, fall and break my butt-- it's already cracked.

Not too bad in SW ID, thanks for asking. It's about 4:30 PM; it's 20F. Got about 1" of snow and maybe another inch tonight. Was pretty windy last night and got down to 10, but I know it's likely worse where you are. Have you had to shovel your roof yet?

HawkerXP You don't see the coozie because I had to put my beer in the fire box to keep it from freezing.

CHNeal You do. You just haven't realised it yet.

Pancakes in the snow! The last couple, I was experimenting with an idea from The Flat Top King, where Neal mixed in crumbled Little Debbie Christmas tree cakes; I used a crushed oatmeal cookie. It was silly delicious, very sweet!

Been waiting for a cold snap to smoke some cheese. Smoke tube in the kettle for 2 hours. Temp at the grate never got above 50 F.

Off my back porch this afternoon:
