This is sad news indeed. He was a5ways there with a compliment or a joke. WE DFINITELY need to do something whether it is naming something, starting a small scholarship or award--- I don't know, but I will chip in. We need it to be relevant to Bones somewhow...

I remember I called him one night a while back while smoking something. It was pretty windy out, making it hard for him to hear me. He asked if I wanted to hear a song or two and I said sure! I put my phone on mute, connected it to a Bluetooth speaker and listened to a live Mr. Bones concert for at least a half hour. It was the best!
He will be be missed. RIP Bonsey!

Prayers and sympathy to his family, as well as unending gratitude for his sacrifices to keep our people free!
If anyone's interested, nonprofits like Guitars for Vets do amazing working in helping our veterans deal with PTSD.

So sad. Was truly a nice guy, never had had a mean or nasty thing to say to anyone on this site, always had positive and usually humorous comments. Not that he couldn't be tough, mean, or nasty - reference his being carjacked in his suburban a year or couple years ago, how bloody his head was and his comments that his attackers were in much worse shape.
I'll tip a glass to you Bonesy ! RIP PLEASE!

What!!! Bonsey is gone! Man will he be missed. When I mentioned my divorce he reached out to me immediately to see what he could do for me. We talked a couple times on the phone. He was truly my brother from another mother. Or father. We couldn't agree on that. I am going to miss him. A lot. He made me understand the phrase salt of the earth. RIP Mr. Bones.

I first talked with Bonesy almost 4 years ago when I was away from home and cooking on a Smokey Joe. I said something on here about a problem I was having. He sent me a PM and asked for my phone # and a few minutes later my phone rang and he gave me some tips. We also talked about more than cookers. He's called every once in a while since then, and recently every couple of months. The last time was Feb. 12. Long rambling conversation covering a lot of topics. As per usual. Hard to believe I'll never get another one of those calls.
That last call was exactly 2 weeks ago, on a Saturday. I told him a little about what the next days sermon was going to be about. I shared with him a quote from someone shared as to what he would like on his tombstone. "Thanks God, I really enjoyed being here. Thanks for inviting me." He loved it. That not only went for his time on earth in general, but especially the time he spent here. We were his family. I lost a brother. We all did.
BTW, for those who hope he's in a better place today, I have no doubt.Last edited by Bogy; February 26, 2022, 11:57 AM.
