RIP, Bones! I am saddened.
I'll remember him for many things, including his country hick schtick, to which I'll note that he never missed proper punctuation--nary even a missed, or misplaced, apostrophe.

Shocked and saddened. He was a pillar in this forum. Always positive always a kind word. I never thought I would feel this type of loss from a forum. Says a lot about his character and the folks here.

Well this is shockingly sad news. He was a luminary here and everyone’s biggest supporter. Had hoped to figure out a way to get together. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends. He will be missed.

Wow. What a punch to the gut. You could always feel the genuine niceness behind all of his posts. Just….wow.Last edited by radiodome21; February 26, 2022, 02:59 PM.

Well, that was something I sure didn't see coming...what a blow to loose a man like Mr. Bones. I always enjoyed reading his posts, with his very unique language, punctuation, and play with words and "hillbilly" expressions. But not only that, a man of character, with a genuine sense of right and wrong, who truly gave to our little bbq community. Thank you, for everything. You made this forum a better place.
You will be missed, Bonesy. Now lean back, kick up your feet, enjoy a sip of that bourbon and let us tend to the fire for you. We've got your back, brother.

Ive been struggling with this now since i first saw the post. Like most here, id never met him in person but felt i knew him. He had a solid 20+ years on me but that didnt matter, we hit it off and had regular chats about guitars, music, and of course cooking. I can say without a shadow of a doubt he was one of the nicest and most genuine people ive ever had the pleasure to cross paths with. In some ways its weird to feel this way about someone i only had an online or voice relationship with but he transcended that. I will truly miss this dude. The world is a little worse off without him but i have no doubt he did more than enough good in his life to ensure that little bit of better future.

Meathead while I'm sure we will eventually come to a consensus on the best charity to collectively support on behalf of Mr Bones, I was thinking about what could be done specifically in The Pit.
And well, I was wondering if the Grand Prize for the monthly sweepstakes could be renamed in his honor? Not sure how others feel about this, but I was thinking as generous and positive as he was for this great community, it would only be fitting that the pinnacle of monthly happiness around here be bestowed in his honor?

STEbbq I agree that would be cool, but you'd have to get sponsors willing do do such a thing and well, the prize lists are always changing so I don't think that's really possible. Still would be cool though

Double blow: What you all don't know was that he was to be a surprise guest speaker at the Meat-Up in Memphis and we were flying him in for the gig. First the Meat-Up was canceled and now we lose Bonesy. Sob.

Meathead Thank you for letting us know that, I’m glad that he knew he was special, and was going to be a guest speaker (I’m certain he would downplay it). He was special, that is for certain! My heart is happy that his family is able to see how much he meant to so many, and to understand this is just one of the positive ripples he put out, that will continue to go out.Last edited by Richard Chrz; February 26, 2022, 03:12 PM.

This has been really sad to take. Bonesy and I were absolutely brothers from another mother. Lots of good chats. Gonna miss him and his music. Think Im gonna go use that IR thermo he gave me tonight and cook up a good steak. RIP brother. I'll see ya soon enough.
