Posole.....yes!! I tried it for the first time this spring. I have a recipe from this site that I want to try. Thanks for reminding me.

FireMan She is from Mississippi and is a great cook. I don't know all of her ingredients but she starts with the holy trinity, then shrimp, crab, chicken, okra, plus delicious spices and cajun flavors. It is the best!

I might be convinced to part with the Austin chili for a really good New England Lobster Bisque. (Austin's weird, yall. Texans will get that joke.)

(I am not a soup person, unfortunately, unless I am sick with a cold. I need viscosity. Although I did have the most spectacular French Onion soup in Vienna one summer....it was absolutely amazing, so perhaps growing up with the ubiquitous Campbell's messed up me a bit.)

Sure, Austin is weird, but they are damn proud of it. And even non-Texans know that.

My problem is I never met a bowl of soup I didn't like !!! If I had to pick some favorites, first it would have to be gumbo in all forms and styles but primarily seafood ....

Next, although some would categorize it as a stew as well, I would have to go with chili. And if someone out there comments on beans in my Texas style chili remember, I have over the horizon capabilities and I will hunt you down. First one is Texas style, the second is with verde peppers .....

Finally for me would have to be a number of Mexican style soups, no one favorite really. Here's some examples of Hatch lintel, good old frijoles and another verde style tortilla soup.

Jokes on you Panhead John. I have the magic "unblock" button given to me personally by Huskee in a moment of weakness. I promised to use it sparingly. That said, I just cancelled my invitation to you to come try some split pea soup. Did I mention I HATE PEAS?

Homemade chicken or turkey noodle (although Campbell's original chicken noodle is a "go to" when recovering from surgery/sickness). With matzo balls given Holiday Season.

Split pea with ham/smoked ham hock or cajun sausage.

Various versions of bean soup, mostly 9 Bean mix.

I could list any of 10 as my 3 favorites, hard to separate them, but here goes:

      Split Pea
      Beef Barley
      Cream of Mushroom

(My wife makes a Creamed Squash soup that is crazy good, the Fish Soup recipe over as Simply Recipes is amazing, and so is Riboletta (Rachel Ray's recipe)

So, just 15 beans or 15 types? I’m interested.

Actually, I'm fond of Walmart's Tortilla soup offering -- good for 2 meals. 15 bean soup is made from a package of mixed beans, called 15 bean soup!

Hard to pick just three. But here is my list (which would differ from my family):

        1) Italian Soup
        2) Gumbo (if we are calling it a soup)
        3) Matzo Ball Soup (me), Chicken n' Dumplings (family).

If I have to eat nothing BUT soup for a year, they better be soups of substance, so I'll go with:

            - Beef stew (or chili)
            - Gumbo (hoping I get some rice to go with it)
            - Chicken Tortilla/Taco Soup of some sort

Honorable mentions would have to go to less substantial soups such as Hot and Sour, some bean soups, and chowders.

If I can only eat three soups for a year I think I'd just kill myself now to get it over with, without the torture of eating nothing but soup for a year.

If that's not a viable answer:
              Lobster bisque
              Bacon and Sweet Corn Chowder
              Pho Bo

But even with eating that richly in terms of soup (no chili, no beef stews... you said soup)...

My neighbor makes a fantastic chili using 239 beans. He says if he added one more bean it would be too farty.

Works even better in St. Louis. Where the two words are indistinguishable.
