4TH OF JULY WEEKEND IS HERE....Show Us Your Burger and Hot Dog Cooks!

Alrighty folks, today starts the long 4th of July weekend and this is where we can post all our hamburger and hot dog cooks. I’m curious to see what might be paired with them as sides. I’m usually just a chips or French fries guy, but I’d love to see what else y’all come up with, that goes good with them. Plain ol’ grilled burgers, smash burgers on the flattop, wild game burgers…..it’s all welcome. I usually just do chili dogs at home, but I know there’s a lot of variations on this American classic. Can’t wait to see what others do!

Starting today thru Tuesday-ish, show us your burger and or hot dog cooks! For all our members outside of the U.S. who might not observe this holiday, please feel free to jump in anyway, the more the merrier!

No burgers or dogs here. We're doing Christmas in July and smoking a turkey.

One day is elk burgers. Probably make some orzo pasta salad and fresh corn on the side. One day is gonna be a nice steak with a grilled veggie salad on the side. Going in inaugurate the new OXO carbon steel grill skillet .

No doubt my efforts won't be as photogenic as yours, but they will eat pretty good.. Bonus pts, two guys eating Italian, "Pretty good food, huh? Damn good. You can't spell it, but it eats pretty good, don't it?” No Google!

So Today was an early 4th of July. Have you ever had teenagers near grilled food? No pictures, just food carnage... I am thankful they are nephews and nieces and not my my kids. I can't image what their parents pay for in food...

Just traditional burgers and dogs for me. Can't wait!

We don't do a national day on the 4th, but it's my son's birthday so we have a family celebration just for us.
I'm doing a brisket by request of the young bloke, but I'll follow this thread with interest anyway, get creative people!!

I cheated a little and cooked smashburgers last night since I work tonight through Tues nights (60 hrs, boo!). I hope this is ok even though Thurs wasn't technically the weekend, it was mine. Here's a couple pics:

I didn't think that i would be into smash burgers but you have changed my mind. Can't wait to try one once my Cuisinart flat top arrives.

captainlee I used to think the same thing… what’s the big deal with smash burgers? I was a 100% “can’t get no better than on the grill” guy. I just didn’t understand the appeal. After I got my griddle I decided to try it. I haven’t done a burger on the kettle since. I still love my grilled burgers though and will do them on the kettle again…..soon maybe.

I’ve got other food stuff happening over the weekend, but I did grill some burgers last night.

Maybe stretching it a bit with an “Italian burger” (a.k.a. hot sausage sandwich. 1/2lb hot Italian sausage with provolone and marinara on a toasted bun.

Panhead John I wish I could say it was my idea, but sausage sandwiches are a big thing here. My favorite way to eat pork.

That’s cool, I’m probably gonna do burgers one night and hot dogs another.

I had to go to Walmart today and pick up some things for this weekend’s burger cook. I can’t believe I ran into MBMorgan while I was there! He was shopping for some new clothes he said. I asked him why, since what he had on looked perfectly fine to me……..

Look at all that burnt orange. Where did he go to school? Was it in Texas? Inquiring minds want to know.

I'll be on the sidelines for this one, I reckon. My lovely bride has let it be known that she prefers her own indoor-cooked burgers to what I make on the grill. Yes, I know that means I should raise my game, but a) we don't have burgers all that often and b) I can't get past "naah, don't bother, I'll just make them on the stove."

Like Santamarina, I'll be smoking a rack of ribs (SLC spares) on Tuesday. It's liable to be a little thunderstormy most of the holiday weekend except that day. Got a whole bunch of vac-sealed leftovers in the freezer we need to eat down as well (brisket, beef belly, pulled pork, ribeye steak, roast pork...), and we need rain, so no complaints. I'll be rooting for y'all from the peanut gallery!

Here's my personal anthem for the holiday, "Fourth of July" by the amazing Dave Alvin. First words out of my mouth every July 4th are "Heyyyyyyyyy baby...!" I love this song so much. (And it's in my setlist for tomorrow's live stream, natch)

I honestly prefer the X version, but that's still one of my favorite tunes. And both versions are great.

mnavarre Yep, Dave wrote it while he was in X and that was the song's first appearance. Love that band! Got to see them a couple times at their peak decades ago. But this is so ingrained now as a Dave song, I can't picture it any other way anymore...
