If I can butt in briefly [again] 🤭, all Pit Members and moderators are invited to attend these Meat-ups. No matter what state or country you live in, Wayne and his crew are more than happy to welcome you. Just as in our Texas MeatUps, all Pit Brothers and Sisters are invited to attend if possible. Carry on.

Thanks for that inclusivity plug PJ.

Great food isn’t all we serve here. NC is ready and willing to show you all that southern hospitality is a very real phenomenon lavishly bestowed upon those who come here. Arrive with expectations to make lasting memories and you won’t be disappointed.

Has a location been decided yet?

I wouldn't mind a poll with a few options that leads to a dedicated site

I'm extreme southeast NC. I think a central state location would get more involvement.

Y'all have fun! These Meat-Ups are a hoot, I've been to every one in Texas. I wish I could make this one (I have family in Charlotte) but I don't think it will happen. But, who knows?

      Q. What is one of the most important decisions that determines the success of an enterprise?

      A. Location, location, location!

What you're looking at on the map above is the Piedmont Triad Area of NC. Let's zoom in.

The Piedmont Triad area of NC is anchored by Greensboro, home of Wrangler and Lee jeans, to the east; High Point, home of the international furniture market, to the south; and Winston-Salem, home of Krispy Kreme doughnuts (and Texas Pete ), to the west. Just a hop, skip, and jump to the south is Lexington, home of Lexington NC style, whole hog, pulled pork BBQ with a tomato-based sauce. There's plenty of lodging accommodations, restaurants, attractions and things to do here.

That's why this area, fellow Pitmaster Club members, is where the Spring 2023 NC Meat-Up will be held.

Subscribe to this topic by clicking on the Follow button at the top right to keep up with all the latest news. We are hoping to announce the dates early next week and lodging accommodations soon thereafter.

You have the general area which is extremely important. Now, based on our experience at the Texas Meat Up, the next piece of your puzzle is an affordable specific location with accommodations for a common gathering for the group. That’s where all the fellowship takes place. I doubt whether I will be able to make it, but your work is making me want to come.

LA Pork Butt said a lot of stuff.

"Now, based on our experience at the Texas Meat Up, the next piece of your puzzle is an affordable specific location with accommodations for a common gathering for the group."

Absolutely! That's why I've engaged the Visitor's Bureaus from the area to help us find that Goldilocks zone for accommodations based on our criteria. They have all the necessary information to send out to the local area hotels and will gather proposals to send to the planning committee for review and a final decision.

"I doubt whether I will be able to make it, but your work is making me want to come."

Welp, when we post the dates, you can incorporate it into your spring plans. You know we'd love to have you and anyone else join us. I think there might be a spiritual connection between Lexington, TX, home of Snow's BBQ, and Lexington, NC, so let's explore it together.

A little historical perspective for your enjoyment.

Did you know that Greensboro, NC is named for Revolutionary War General Nathaniel Greene who fought a decisive, but losing, battle against Britain's Lord Cornwallis at what is now the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park?

Yep, the Continental Army lost many tactical battles, but somehow always managed to keep the strategic advantage. Something about fighting for your own home, freedom and liberty is highly motivating. At least it used to be. Plus, they had some extraordinary leaders like Greene, Knox, even Arnold for bit, and, of course His Excellency Gen'l Washington, Esq, etc.

Wayne, while extolling the virtues and history of the great state of North Carolina, let’s not forget your number one export to the world….Southern Culture On The Skids! Formed in 1983 in Chappel Hill, NC, this band has a huge cult following, here and across the world. Many of us here in The Pit love these guys, I know I do. I had the immense pleasure of seeing them back in the 90’s at Rockefeller's Club here in Houston. No one puts on a show like them. Here’s one featuring Mary on lead vocals. Enjoy.

Wayne, this band is unbelievably awesome! Hillbilly, punk, country rock at its best. YouTube them and start with their album “Double Wide And Live”. That’s their best one and will have you dancing your bohunkass off. 👍

Panhead John don't forget about C.O.C. (Corrosion of Conformity). This incredible heavy metal band originated in 1982 out of Raleigh, NC. A favorite album of mine is "America's Volume Dealer" and are currently on tour!

I think it goes without saying but, this meat-up will be a very informal, casual affair where we can all let our hair down.

Thanks to the presentence set by the Texas Clan. It appears that the family tree does not fork. And all Meatups are going to follow the same classic and highbrow standards. Put on your deep wading boots and silk teddy and make sure you have a good lawyer on retainer! 😎🙄

And, DavidNorcross I'll see your business suit and raise you a tux!

My wife had a black tie awards ceremony to attend Saturday night and I couldn't resist the urge to get this pic while I had the tux on.

Thanks Sid P. I think a lot of members find creating and publishing a video on YouTube to embed on here too challenging. It ain't straightforward, that's for sure. Maybe we should tag a mod like Huskee and ask if they would publish a 'how-to' guide. Alternatively, I don't know how difficult or easy it is to write the code to allow mp4 video formats from our iOs devices to be embedded.
