Was able to get a couple things done after work. Welded my little cap supports onto the deflector plate's Smoke Enhancer. Brought out the three partial walls. Two will be lower inner sidewalls and the other the lower outer backwall. I now have all the measurements I need for all the walls. Next up, figure the deflector plate supports.

I have followed along and really appreciate how involved a project like this can be! So many steps in the process. I’m a woodworker and similarly, a project always takes more time than you expect because of all the steps that you didn’t think of when initially imagining the project. This is so very interesting to me as I have never worked with metal. I will say one thing though. You really understand why a quality smoker is so expensive!! Looks great so far Jerod. Can’t wait for the finished product, burn in, an first cook!

FYI- woodworking would drive me nuts. I'm still sanding down my ramps to get the welding cart into the little shed.

More nickel and dime work. Decided to attach the casters before she got too heavy. Weather system moving in tonight/tomorrow so I needed to move her back some. Might do some touch-up welds tomorrow night since noise making power tools won't be necessary. I'm 6'0".

Looking good. Are ya gonna install an elevator to get product to the top shelf?

So that thing comes up to my nose or there about.
        Fun build Jerod.

RonB I may install a step on the front. I'll have supports between the legs (except for the front) to help lower the center of gravity and offset the weight of the door opening and closing. I decided not to go with one on the front since the door is already there and I would probably just spend more time just tagging my shin on it.

Prep day today and tomorrow. Prepping the smoker so I can weld power tool free throughout the week, hopefully. All the panels for the walls should be here before next weekend. I'd like to get two lower inner sidewalls installed before next weekend and the deflector plate set up.

Made sure I could fit the burner under the rear leg support. Took a touch of grinding for an easier fit.

With the chop saw on the cart, I needed a removable support on the opposite end of the cart. Had the right size channel and angle. Now I can eventually install my drawer so everything isn't piled up on the bottom shelf.

texastweeter yeah, here too, a maintenance guy at the plant said they had a crossbow marked down almost $300. I'm getting a Ten Point slightly above their intro level, which means it is NOT EVEN close to that $4000 number they got.

I shoot a Parker crossbow. It's decent and has lasted since 2016-17 ish. If anything does break on it, I'll probably have to buy a complete new bow.

Yes, I bought the crossbow and they went out of business within a year.

First wall has some good tacks in it. Can't believe I finally got at least part of a wall up.

Looking good bro! Glad to see someone making some progress. Every time we make a little, we get set back and have to wait a few days to do anything.

Apparently, our project is going to take a while.

It'll be worth in the end. I lucked out and had the rest of my wall sheets shipped two days after I ordered. Of course I've got other stuff that could take a month, but I ain't complaining.

Now she looks kinda like a smoker. Both lower inner walls are ready to get welded shut. I have some rails to put on the deflector plate to divert drippings to the water pans. I'm going to cut the water pans down some to allow more airflow their way. I'll have a solid 57" x 21" x 21" of vertical cooking.

Rear leg support is welded. I have metal on the way for the other two.

Good news- All my wall metal is in. Tractor trailer was too big for my street so we somehow got the 278lb beast out of his trailer and into my truck bed. Everything else is coming FedEx.

Bummer news- thought I would be home by 11pm tonight, instead it was 1am, and now have someone stealing packages out of my mail box. WiFi cameras are enroute to my PO Box. I got off so late didn't feel like swinging by the police station.

Bummer bummer news- today (Wednesday) I was looking at potentially being off with lots of welding getting done. Instead I will spend 3.5hrs on the road, to spend just over 4hrs in a facility, exactly 100 miles from my driveway.

            The package.

Sorry to hear all that, man. I know what it's like to look forward to a day of fabrication and getting some things accomplished and then end up not being able to do a damned thing. That's essentially been me for the last several weeks. Even more bummed about the package thieves! THAT S*** absolutely burns me, I have lost so much faith in our society... personally, I think theft should be HEAVILY punished.

I can not stand the thought of package thieves when caught they should have fingers cut off the number of fingers = the value of mail!

Great night of welding. Got both machines taking turns for the first time. Also, I figured out how to weld vertically while wearing sandals without "burning interruptions."

Lower sidewalls sealed as well as front base. The rest of the base will be inside the walls.

First door frame tacked on (fire pot access). Strings set depth of door so that things are level-ish at the hinges.

Getting as much as I can cut and tacked, or at least cut and ready for welding, for weeknights of welding. Holding off on the backside until I have the front doors sealed up.

Nice headache today. Thankfully this was a cutting day. Upper inner sidewalls are tacked and ready for welding; both doors ready for assembly; two remaining leg supports cut and ready. I should have both doors and back inner sidewall complete by next Sunday. Might have to work Saturday.

Both security cameras up and running. First test run will be Tuesday.

                  Little door parts.

Have been following from beginning. Sucks that porch pirates are getting involved. I’ve got some dogs that love flesh… not mine but others… and they’re good at staying on property. Just sayin…
