This is the bottom side. Once I finish grinding down these hideous welds tomorrow, I can get started on the burner assembly and at least cut my leg sections. It's late and grinding is loud. I don't think all my neighbors hit the sack at 3am like me.

Two sections for a leg. I have some gussets on the way, eventually.

Hook installation. I also layered some welds on the corners so the uprights don't have as much gap. They'll be braced up rather quickly.

One small flip for mankind, one giant flip for J.B. Tack up the bottom corners tomorrow and start on the burner assembly, and maybe the updated welding cart for the paternal twins.

So my Miter saw developed the infamous blade wobble. Grrrrrr. Got replacement parts on the way that MIGHT solve the issue. And another chop saw (non miter).

Burner cage assembly. I'll weld the rails underneath AFTER I attach the legs. Don't want the heat from leg attachment messin' them up any. Home Depot jacked up the shipment of my cut saw. Instead of getting it today, you know with $79 worth of shipping, it will now be 3-5 freaking business days.

Sides, seeing how they line up, already drilled the hole for the burner. A threaded shaft on the burner goes through the bottom, and a nut will be tightened and tacked.

Front wall with sides walls. Took a tad more angle iron off than I needed. I'll have a rail to stop the forward movement. This will spend 100% of it's time out of sight anyways. Get the hole drill and hopefully weld up tomorrow.

Whew! Disaster averted. I'm on vacation and was looking at 7 WHOLE DAYS of no cutting. Talk about wasted time. Thankfully it appears it was the washer-bushing combo that was causing the wobble, not internal gears. Looked more so the washer. Both got changed and I have an extra bushing and two extra washers.

Leg assembly. I'm starting to despise 45 degree angles. Don't worry, someone else in another state cut those gussets.

Legs coming out pretty good. Deflector plate arrived, 16"x16"×3/16" thick. Putting a hole in the middle in order to get some smoke headed to the middle of the smoke cabinet immediately, and overall hopefully more evenness cookingness.

I better pay close attention to this build...

                      I don't plan on living until 2050.

It's after dark so no running of the ridiculously remarkably loud blade machine cutting metal. I did an alright job with the hand grinder. I just need 3/4" worth to insert in the deflector plate hole.

So that little pipe came "two dimensionally" aka oblong. It is 1.375" one direction, 1.25" the other. Tempted to get a 1.25" hole bit since I got 4 more holes to drill horizontally in the smoker walls for air vents, and just clean out what I need to for a better fit.

Don’t use that oblong thing. Get something dimensionally correct. You won’t regret it.

Oak Smoke OK, I'll have to check locally. It'll work on this plate. It's getting welded with the 140 so that'll be a blast. For the air vents something thinner walled would actually be better. Thanks!

With that little pipe going up through the deflector plate, I need to put a cap an inch or so over that little pipe, so drippings don't go down through there and potentially saturate the wood chunks.

I'll weld those three little stainless pins around the pipe, and place that cap (hole stopped up) ontop those pins.

I got 2.2 more cuts on the 2" square tubing and I'll be done with that crap. Finish the one I'm on, a 45, and a straight. Then I can go back to 1" and 1.25". Yehhhhhhhhh!!!!

Weld a bolt to it, then a nut in the center of the drflector. Easy removal

The 3 inner (lower) sidewalls arrived. Won't be needing them for a couple weeks. I need the new chop saw to finish cutting legs. I really need to build the new welding cart and can get started on that today, but need a bit more steel to arrive to ultimately finish.

I now need the rest of the 3 inner walls (2'x1.5'-ish), the 3 outer walls, walls for the doors, and roof material. And that just about does it, don't it (go Vern), other than latch and chimney cap material, and something to pull this thing around.

Welding cart 1.0 wasn't 40% complete when I realized it wasn't going to jive. I made plans for 2.0 when the second welder arrived, now I'm building 3.0 in order to accommodate a chop saw along with the 2 welders. I "should" get all material necessary delivered tomorrow. I hope. Everything has been delayed by FedEx. I think they are too optimistic on the initial delivery date.

24x36 welding table, 24x36 welding cart. Works for me. I got casters The Fall Guy would be proud of.

So far, I've cut 2 4" strips of 1/4" sheet - 120" of cut steel. TOTAL lol Hope to get some work finally done this weekend!
