These are a couple Fly Fishing books that I’m reading right now the Hatch Guide by Thomas Ames is a great book on entomology for New England. The Battenkill is a river that I hope to fish this year.

Polar Bear has a special translucence I have some from when it was legal to purchase it, although @CaptionMike as I saw in an earlier post I do not recommend eating the liver. So I guess it counts.

Here's my most recent read prior to starting the ones I mentioned above. (Note: it typically takes me months, if not longer, to finish a book. My only time for reading for pleasure is when I get in bed, and I end up reading the same five pages over and over and over...)

Brian T. is the significant other of my good friend Jenni, who supplies me with her killer pork rub on the regular (and who is herself a major figure in Americana music on the promotion/management side). Townes was a deeply troubled but deeply amazing artist, whose very hard life ended at age 52 in 1997 (although he volunteered for most of the hard parts... gambling, drugs, and drink). His songs are absolutely incredible, conveying so much meaning in the fewest possible words. His guitar arrangements are deceptively simple, and his influence on at least two generations of singer-songwriters is hard to overstate. The structure of the book is in short chapters where his contemporaries describe their recollections, after Brian T. provides a short intro to that person and their relationship to Townes. Really interesting book!

On my next livestream this Sunday, I'm doing songs by Townes, Guy Clark, and Lyle Lovett, with about 10 Townes tunes and 3 each from the other two. So I'm way into his stuff right now, rehearsing daily...

This is an outstanding book! A fantastic primer on the origins of Western Civilization, and the benefits of the masculine nature. I've read it 3 times and given 20 copies away.

Just finished "The Help" which I found to be a great read. Currently reading Sigurd Olson "Runes of the North." If anybody has ever been to the Boundary Waters or further north, I would highly recommend this one. If you can find it.

Great read of shipwreck, survival, mutiny and murder of a British war ship. I knew there were children working on these ships but never knew they were as young as 7. Click image for larger version

I can’t really say much without going political. This is what I’m reading now. I just finished Hillbilly Elegy. It was a pretty incredible sociological commentary on a group I hadn’t had much contact with. Click image for larger version

All animals are equal, some are just more equal is what I remember from reading this book in HS some 50 years ago. We also read 1984.

One of my all time favorites. I read it at least one a year. I can pick it up at any chapter and start reading.

Last weekend I went as a spectator to my first bbq competition and I can absolutely see how people get hooked, not just in the cooking but the camaraderie. I don’t know that I’ll ever compete but the kindle version is dirt cheap so I figured why not.

ID:	1644745 This book, Wooden Boats, was recommended to me by a fellow woodworker. We are also both former boaters. Anyway, it’s about some guys in Martha’s Vineyard that build and repair wooden boats. Most are sailboats but they do some power boats also. I’m enjoying it thoroughly. Great insight into the men, boats, sailing, and the overall wooden boat community. The photo is from my Kindle screen. I’m sure the actual book looks different.

I've been working my way through different periods of European history - reading nonfiction history, then reading fiction of the period to get an on-the-ground viewpoint. I'm in the early 19th century right now. (stock photo - I'm reading the digital version)

I see Frank Figliuzzi, former assistant FBI director, on the news shows regularly. I have been laid up, off my feet, for a week tomorrow, with a rousing case of gout from a medication change made recently. Can barely hobble to the bathroom and the dog's dishes. This is about a real FBI investigation of long haul trucker serial killers, apparently more of them than one would imagine. Just started, but so far, so good. Click image for larger version

I read a lot on my Kindle, my dad got me started on the CJ Box "Joe Pickett" series. They are a great read, currently reading the second in the series "Savage Run". Read "Open Season" in record time, couldn't put it down. I guess as a forester I relate a little to the character. For those of you who utilize a local library, my wife got me started on the "Libby" app, it syncs with my library and I can check out books electronically on there, have them delivered right to my kindle. Very convenient.
