Jacques Pepin is amazing. I still remember him in a TV episode with Julia Child sneaking some parsley into a dish.

haha that was kind'a the point of the pic, but I will say 'Garden & Gun' is a great read if you can ignore the Rolex's.

Garden and Gun. Before I moved south, I would have laughed. Now I will probably subscribe.

With the Kindle Paperwhite my library fits in my pocket and does not have fancy covers anymore, but it contains fiction, historical ficton, history books, and a few political commentaries for the most part. Whenever I am asked this question I always reply with "The Bad Ass Librarians of Timbuktu" which makes me sound smart when in fact I probably just finished another Bernard Cornwell book.

I understand completely but the simplicity has won my wife and I over. We each read an average of 3 books a week and old books were basically turning is into potential hoarders, Now if we only had a good way to handle all the Amazon boxes other than constant trips to the recycling bins.

I've got hundreds of books on my 2nd generation Kindle. It sure is convenient, and my overflowing bookshelves have gotten a break for the most part since I got it years ago.

You can't go wrong with Bernard Cornwell or Steven Pressfield. By far my favorite historical fiction authors!

I don't read books. Funny that way. I love reading schematics and such, recipes, I could wrap up in a warm blanket with a beer and devour a whole service manual.

This is what I usually do!

The audio book is awesome because Goggins and the Writer talk about each chapter afterwords. So you really get a great handle on what drives Goggins. ( If you have not already from his podcast(s) on JRE) Pfunk1977

I've got an Easton Press, Folio, Library of American & Franklin Publishing library, mostly for passing on to grandkids someday, but I've read them all once. Some stuff half a dozen times.

My daughter is a columnist so we talk about what we're reading a lot, and she sends me emails on current books I shouldn't miss.

She says that growing up watching her parents constantly reading is what set her in that direction. I'm just happy she's literate... it's such a relief to be proud too.

Very awesome! I hope to go there some day myself. I don't know if my Ryrie study Bible will make the trip though - it's way too bulky for a trip around the world. Kudos to you for carrying it with you.

CaptainMike I saw that Constitution and Other Writings book at Costco last weekend and I actually lost track of time thumbing through it. What a great collection of American political wisdom. I didn't buy it...only because I'm hoping it ends up in my stocking in a few weeks.

Two writings, one actual and one an accounting of, shaped my life as an American, Thomas Paine's Common Sense and the account(s) of Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty, or give me death" speech to the House of Burgess. Unfortunately, Paine's works are not included in this book, makes me wonder why not.

CaptainMike look for Library of America issues of the writings of T Jefferson, and of Ben Franklin, and the Debate on the Constitution set. They're on eBay now.
