Never at all in my life have I seen or heard of anyone salting a melon. Mexican fruit on a stick - typically mango - gets tajin or some spice and heat. but I've never done anything to melon but cut it and eat it. maybe you'all are eating crappy melon. get yourself some Sugar Kiss melon and you won't need to dry brine your fruit to eat it, perhaps.

I have these electrolyte packets that I add to water, various flavors, they would be good added to fruit mixes. Heck, I’ve even found drink recipes for them.

one of the greatest things I discovered when I visited Rome, was that every single restaurant had melon and ham as an appetizer. Salt on a melon is good, but melon with thin sliced ham is amazing!!!
