I was honestly waiting for the punch line of the joke. Never ever heard of salting melons.

Just like putting a bit of salt on a tomato, a bit of salt on a watermelon amplifies the flavor of watermelon.

Watermelon gets salt. Cantaloupe gets pepper. Honeydew gets nothing. Wife thinks I'm nuts.

None for me, but the only melon I chose to eat is a watermelon. Cantaloupe and Honeydew just don’t appeal to me.

I'm on the nope side. I did just retry a little salt on a cantelope I cut up..... and I'm sticking with nope.

My dad always salted his watermelon but that’s a habit I never picked up. No salt for me on melons.

Cantaloupe is best left in the field to rot so somebody doesn't cut up and mix it up with perfectly good fruit. Red watermelon has no taste, so it's a waste of time unless you're thirsty or want to spit seeds. If forced to eat it salt at least gives it SOME flavor. Yellow watermelon ain't to bad. You guys eat the melons, I'll have another helping of brisket.
