What do you put on your pulled pork sandwiches?

I can go with nothing at all, other than the meat. Or I can go with

    raw or pickled onions
    dill pickles
    sweet pickle relish
    yellow mustard
    bbq sauce
    cheese
    horseradish
    sauerkraut

Not in every combination, of course. But any of those go well on pulled pork sandwiches, some things (onions and sweet pickle relish) in combination and others (sauerkraut and bbq sauce) not.

Im not looking for suggestions. I just am curious how people dress their sandwich. I’d eat it California style if that were the only choice. (But I would prefer plain in that instance, no sense f… I mean, messing up a good pulled pork sandwich.)

Just sauce if I'm making it.

If it comes to me with slaw on it, I'll go ahead and eat it that way.

In Mid-South Carolina, from Columbia to Charleston, BBQ sauce is yellow. Here is a quick and easy South Carolina mustard BBQ sauce recipe.

Carolina gold sauce also makes great slaw to use on BBQ bologna sandwiches.

      Barbecue sauce
      Dill pickles
      Cole slaw
      Burger patty
      Potato chips

Not that I do this often, but the single best pulled pork sandwich I ever had was when my brother in law and I were making cocktails and feeling goofy and adventurous, so I made them with a little BBQ sauce, jalapeno rings, cheddar cheese sauce (NOT cheese whiz, a good one like Ragu), and a fried but runny egg on top. It was heaven.

Said differently you got drunk slamming shots, grabbed whatever was left in an otherwise empty fridge and swore the next day it was drunken ambrosia. Yep, we all been there

Neked is fine, but I also like to use coleslaw and/or eastern NC style bbq sauce.

Up this way we don’t get much in the way of that good vinegar slaw like in VA and NC. I’d have to make it, and most of it wouldn’t get used. But yeah, that stuff is damn good.

The day I smoke it, plain is the way I like it. If I’m reheating it I like either a thin vinegar sauce or a thin sweet BBQ sauce. Also heating it up in pork stock with a side of pork stock to dip it in is incredible.

Also a triple pig on a Kaiser roll is delicious. Sausage, pulled pork, bacon with melted cheese and sweet BBQ sauce.

If my sandwich is in a wrap anything goes:

shredded cheese (pepper jack is great)
            salsa
            bacon and cheddar
            creamy scrambled eggs
            vinegar or creamy coleslaw
            kraut

Never tried horseradish but I love horseradish so next pork butt I smoke that’s what I’m trying.

I tried a mildly spicy Carolina mustard sauce on one about 3 years ago. I was hooked after the first bite. My favorite now is pork, Carolina mustard sauce, and coleslaw with a sweet vinegar dressing. I could eat these often and never grow tired of them.

I mix bbq sauce and yellow mustard on them often. It’s excellent.

              Coleslaw
And then a light coat of some sauce listed here in order of preference:
              Blue Hog Tennessee Red,
              Eastern Carolina Vinegar Sauce,
              South Carolina Mustard Sauce,
and recently Alabama White Sauce which actually works well in small amounts.

Columbia Gold if I have it, but almost any sauce is good. Also diced onions, bread & butter pickles or sweet relish, and slaw if we have any.

                    Most times a vinegar sauce.
I have one that I make that my kids absolutely insist on it being available if we are having pulled pork.
Other things I some times do are...

                    cole slaw
                    Cowboy Candy
                    Sharp provolone cheese
                    Pickled onions
                    Caramelized onions
                    Hot sauce
                    BBQ sauce
                    hot pepper relish

I think the cowboy candy might be my favorite. A good mix of sweet/ hot and a bit of crunch.

My keto diet has several salads like that. One of my favorite right now is a Burger King double patty Texas whopper. They have jalapeños instead of pickles. I just chunk the bun and grab a fork . A no bun pulled pork salad is great also.
