If we do this Chili Cook Off thingy, we definitely don’t want to let it interfere with Thanksgiving weekend of course. Friday November 11 is Veterans Day. I was thinking this might be a good weekend for it, with some people having the day off.

We can’t do anything like this in December, that’s our Secret Santa month. Another reason I thought November would be good is because that’s about when the weather starts getting a lot cooler in the South. I ain’t making Chili when it’s 90* outside…😱 Also, our Texas MeatUp is in the middle of October. I ain’t missing that fer nuttin. Y’all think that November date would work for a Chili Cook Off?

I think I won’t participate just so CaptainMike has a real chance of placing ;-)

I’m definitely in for a chili cook-off. It would be fun if each participant could serve their chili to at least four people and get and post their one sentence comments. Pix of the four would be optional since some people are big into privacy.

I made my first chili about 50 years ago. I’ll make chili, but I refrain from competing.

November sounds good. October is pretty Halloween centric for me (I must continue to teach the neighborhood kids the true meaning of terror...)

Got an idea here, courtesy of DavidNorcross from the Smackdown. Let’s have a Best Dressed Award for the Chili Cook Off. No prize, just a way to add a little more fun. This can be ANYTHING you want to wear while posing next to your pot of chili. Your favorite apron, outfit, whatever…..funny or serious. Anything goes, well, except for nudity. 😂 Pretty sure we ain’t THAT close to each other yet….

Best dressed? Ok now I’m definitely out. My wardrobe consists of the homeless and the homeless and crazy looks. 😂😎

But seriously, I’ve never made chili. Ever. Odd because I really like it. My wife makes it now and then. It’s pretty good too. But I wouldn’t say award winning. Maybe I should try a batch? Hmmmm. 🤔

Jim, start practicing now, it’s not that hard. Once you learn to make a good chili at home, it will become a staple for you in the winter months.

It’s simple. Make spaghetti sauce, but use southwestern spices instead of Italian spices. That’s it.

Mosca I have always thought of Chili as the Texas variation of Boeuf Bourguignon :-)

An easy win, Yo Texans, as you all do not put the most important BEANS in chili. You have already seen my (2nd place chili) in the last smack, and it was first for me posting pictures. I'm in.

True story, we had a local chili cook off, the winner, a guy went and bought a gallon of Wendy's chili warmed it up, and won. Of course he did not tell, until after it was over. LOL

Wendy’s Chili actually won? Seriously? Who judged it, homeless people?

By November it will probably be down to an avg daily temp of 87, which is why nobody gives a rip about chili here.
