How About A Cook Off EVERYONE Can Participate In?

I’d like to start out by saying that these 2 Smackdowns that were started, owe most of the credit for their success, to the Mr. Bones Memorial rib cook. Mr. Bones death shook us up quite a bit. I can’t think of a better way to memorialize him than a continuation of his love for cooking and group togetherness.

Shortly after his death SteveB and Spinaker decided to put together a Memorial Rib Cook in his honor. It was a huge success! After that, I kind of saw how everyone loved the group participation thing. Everyone commented how much fun it was, even though it was for a sad reason.

Anyway, there was discussion between Richard Chrz and Spinaker , of maybe doing a monthly "group cook" type of thing. I initially thought that might be too often. Boy was I wrong! With our recent successes I think we should continue.

Here's my thoughts…We should do an "AR Chili Cookoff" for November! There’s always heated discussions about the best Chili, beans or no beans, and whatever ingredients make it the best. Anyway, I think this would make for a great group cook for the month of November. What say y’all ?

I wish we all lived next door to one another and could actually taste the food. I guess we're stuck with pics.

I live right by the Indy Metro Airport in Fishers. I'm pretty sure I see Kardashian jets coming and going over there all the time.

This would just be a "cook however ya want" Chili Cook Off. No smoker required. 👍

I was thinking we shouldn’t do one in December, that’s when we do our Secret Santa. Not sure if we should even try and compete with that, it’s huge!

For a few years running I challenged my three sons and wife to a chili cookoff. Only condition it had to be cooked over a wood fire. It was good times-more about the comradeity than the product. But honestly everyone was a winner as the chilies were always great.

        I am down for a chili cook-off as well☝️

Great! ….My thoughts were to let everyone cook it however ya want, but I’m open to suggestions of course.

I'd be up for that. But.

We need to deal with the fact that most of September and all of October remain.

So, since PJ said he was thinking of selling his wok, how about Wok Vs. Flattop for the remainder of September .

For October we can all put on our leggings and Ugg boots and PUMKIN' SPICE EVERYTHING! Pumkin' spice brisket!, Pumkkin' spice ramen, pumkin' spice whatever!

Then in November we can get around to the serious business of everybody but me being wrong about chili.
