A Bigger And Even Better Smackdown Is Now Planned!….Clear Your Calendar Folks!

Me and CaptainMike have been chatting recently, and we wanted to share something with y’all. I don’t have either a pellet grill nor a stick burner, but he has both. We both agreed that an excellent idea would be to have a …..PELLET POOPER VS STICK BURNER SMACKDOWN! This would be a great way to showcase the abilities of both styles of cookers and allow a whole lot of members to participate! We all want to have fun with this, and we think that this is another great avenue. We thought that Labor Day weekend in one month would be a great time for this. Everyone would have plenty of time to secure wood, meat or whatever is needed. So, it’s planned for Friday September 2nd thru Monday September 5th.

Here’s another suggestion, there’s a lot more pellet grill owners than stick burners, so, if you happen to have both, we’d like to suggest using your stick burner if possible, to help even the playing field. Captain Mike is taking over from here, I’m just a cheerleader for now….

Can I post a pics from an earlier cook as I probably won’t be able to lift the lid on my LSG by than. That will be only 7 weeks since my surgery and I’m pretty sure the Doc’s will tell me I can’t or shouldn’t lift that much weight yet.

I was thinking about buying the cheapest used pellet grill I can find just so I can be in the running for the 24” x 40” LSG offset CaptainMike is going to give away after this one is done!

Well, at least this one doesn't specify what brand of pellet burner I have to use so I don't have to worry about where I am and which team I'm going to be on. I don't see anyway I'm buying a stick burner in the next month. I have a granddaughter with a birthday that weekend, so what I'll be cooking might depend on her. I might have to see if I can persuade her though, because I was digging around in the freezer today and I think there are 5 briskets in there.

Bad Hat BBQ no offset for me this year. I already bought 4 new cookers this year. A PBC, Bronco Pro, Weber Performer, and a second Pit Boss griddle. For a total of 8 cookers. I'm running out of room.

One of these days we need to do a side dish cookoff!!! We all concentrate on mastering our skills at cooking meats..ribs, butts, briskets, chicken, steaks.... I would love to see everyone's different side dish ideas, with all the great produce this time of year i'm betting we have a few grill master worthy recipes in this group!!
