It's a good thing that the price of eggs has come down, because the government funding to find a vaccine for avian flu has been cancelled, since there could never be a reoccurance of that disease.

Latest APHIS report on avian flu. In addition, detections in wild birds include a Whooping Crane in Wisconsin. Its loss reduces the Eastern Migratory flock of endangered Whooping Cranes to less than 70 birds.

Our lake house in NW Iowa gets the Sioux Falls, SD stations. At the parsonage we get Rochester/Albert Lea MN stations, so we have been hearing about reports the last month.

Costco $2.89/24. Down $5 from January. I never really paid attention to the price of eggs before, but this thread has been an eye opener. $2.89 for 24 seems downright cheap. Sustainable? The new norm?

Let’s hope it’s both. I did learn that St Petersburg, Fl does allow chicken ownership. If it happens again, we will likely buy a few chickens to supply our eggs and some poultry.
