Seriously sad. Sorry for your loss. I’ve left packages of meat out of the freezer after digging around/reorganizing, painful and embarrassing, but this is off the chart.

It's an obvious sign that you must replace the beer and meat fridge that is acting up, it is to blame for the entire incident. Just think if your fridge was operating correctly you wouldn't have had the meat in the back of the truck, it would be safely tucked away in the fridge wet aging. Time to replace the fridge in order to avoid any more catastrophes.

Yep, you're absolutely right. I told my wife we need to replace it. We're building a garage and when we move the freezer out there a new fridge is going in it.

Huskee I think I would put the new fridge beside the freezer instead of in it.

As I get older I have to do things as soon as I get the idea. If I procrastinate for a minute I’ll forget and won’t remember to do it until much too late. I do feel sorry for y’all but the cause of the problem being bad memory “ain’t going to get better with age”.

I mention this to the LL all the time. "It is OK hon, it only gets worse."

Just don't be like Huskee. Or Huskee's wife.

That’s seriously painful, but would someone really assume an unopened box is garbage?

That's what I asked her. She said they asked, but she didn't realize it was unopened, she thought it was opened so said 'yeah it's trash'. Part of me wonders if they set it over there to investigate it later and scored....

Terrible thing to happen but.... most of us have lost valuable stuff along the road of life. Don't feel bad... it can be replaced- I once left a hunk of pulled pork on the grill as I waited for suppertime ,45 min off.. I left the lid open.... a critter decide to taste it.. either a possum or cat-- had to be a possum because they had a good time within 15 minutes had eaten the top off. I had kindly left it close to the shelf so they didn't even get on the grates of that pellet grill. ..

I can only imagine the odd combination of intense anguish and utter absurdity that hit you.

I have a personal saying that I use for when I do such things....."If this is the dumbest thing that I've done/has happened this month, then I'm doing pretty good."

Sorry for your loss. If it makes you feel any better I have pretty much done the exact same thing. If fact, I bet we have all done something similar.

You know that little voice in your head that tells your to put stuff away, when you have the chance........yeah, l try to listen to that as much as I can. Granted, I realize that this was technically, put away, until it got to your MIL's place.

These are the things that make life worth living. LOL. Or something like that. All you can do is laugh, in the end. At least you have a good story to tell in a few years when the pain has worn off.

Yep, trying to stay laughing about it. Sad thing is I went back to the site prepared to order another and they're sold out. Grrr.

Back in the early 90's, in the days before "memes", the major oil company I worked for was in the process of self destructing when anonymous little signs began popping up all over the buildings in Anchorage ... taped to doors, walls, elevators, etc. It seems fitting to paraphrase what they said to "commemorate" your (and apparently others') unfortunate recent experience:

"In times like these, people sometimes shoot themselves in the foot. Here in The Pit, we aim a little higher."

      Sorry ...

Geez, I've heard about being on the wrong side of the tracks, but the wrong side of the road?

Down here in Texas they do this neat thing whereby they alternate each side of the road for trash pick up on different days of the week.

But I did grow up taking the trash to the dumpster on the 4-wheeler, good times as long as the bag wasn't leaking.

If you miss the loin enough, go listen to the song by Little Texas, "What Might Have Been,"

I love that song! That's one of the first guitar parts I learned when I was a teen after I got chords down and started trying finger picking. I miss them.

Mebbee ya can go to the dump and start siftin fer the meat like they sift fer evidence in the movies. Take a note pad & recreate where you wuz by the tire marks & stuff. And find out who helped ya, mebbee they would remember the general location. Tell em there is a reward, like mebbee the warm beer which sorta started this whole thing.
Oh, and git yerself a new or used fridge.

Mandy went there today when they first opened! She was hoping it might still be there since she went there at the end of the business day Sat and today was the first day they are opened again since. She thought maybe it would still be there unharmed, but no such luck, sadly.

It is better to have tried to sear beef and lost, than to never have beefed at all.
