I’m gonna lead this time. At the last Texas MeatUp I foolishly let Kevin lead, he stepped all over my toes.

Sorry, just getting caught up. We've had some family medical issues so I've been MIA recently. Looks like you all have a fantastic itinerary! We're local so we won't be booking a hotel room but hopefully will be free to participate that weekend. It's hard to miss with food here in Acadiana.

I just booked our room. Mari Jo and I are IN and looking forward to meeting some new Pit members. No swamp tour for us. We will go find adult beverages some where while y’all troll for snakes.
Is there enough mosquito repellent made for this event?
58limited tagging you so you can update the roster.

I have a cousin in the t-shirt business. Shall I inquire about attendee-only shirt costs? Only 2 colors so not likely bunches of money. Panhead John?Last edited by CandySueQ; August 4, 2023, 07:16 AM.

I just wanted to take a minute to say something. This ain’t prolly gonna be no big surprise, but it speaks volumes to the quality of people we have here at AR. I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to do as far as a logo kinda thang for the Cajun MeatUp. Gonna do a banner and maybe something else. 🧐 I Googled a few things/pics and sent em to WayneT He called me later and we discussed over the phone how I thought it might look and we tossed around a few ideas. I ain’t nowhere near edjecated enough to do this on the compooter myself, but that is what Wayne did for me. I just said, here’s what I was thankin, and he put it to life! I wouldn’t know how to do that in a million years! Wayne spent a good 30 minutes on the phone with me, doing the MEATUP logo you see above. Thanks so much bro!Last edited by Panhead John; August 3, 2023, 08:52 PM.

Shucks, thanks y’all. I CAN take instructions but sometimes choose not to. That’s why it took as long as it did to create the logo. That Panhead John guy is quite particular.

I of course love smoked meats of all kinds, but also like quick cooks like chicken portions, pork tenderloins, steak and fish. Really into cooking of all kinds.
My outdoor kitchen has a Lone Star Grillz Adjustable and it is wonderful. There also is a Pit Boss 5 Burner Ultimate Griddle and a Pit Boss Copperhead pellet grill.
There is an outdoor fire pit that has grilling capability and limited Santa Maria-style grill raising and lowering.
FireBoard 2 Pro
Anova Precision Cooker
Just a reminder, I'd join you folks on this one, but I have a schedule conflict. Since I will be in Italy with my lovely wife, I believe I will be able to survive the trauma of missing the good fun and great food with y'all.

I was just thinking about Panhead John (please make it stop) ... and it occurred to us (I mean we ... I mean me) that a commemorative jacket would be nice, too. One with long sleeves, the hands sewn shut, and straps ... leather straps ... with buckles ... big brass buckles ... that fasten securely in the back. Oh ... and a logo, too ...

Afraid there's no scope for me either. We have to make a long-ass trip in mid-October when I will be officiating the wedding of my beloved niece, and what with the other major expenses we've incurred this year (you may recall our plumbing disaster and needing to replace our a/c system), it is more debt to make that happen. The blow is softened a bit by the destination: Oahu. But from the east coast, man that is a long trip, and it will be nothing but jet lag the five days we are there, and for days after we return. I anticipate having few actual memories, it's gonna be a blur...

Aw thanks man. Thus far, all the couples I've married remain happily married
So far, so good! When that first young couple asked me, they started with "are you free on [date]?", which I knew was their planned wedding day. I figured they were going to ask me to play guitar, which had usually been the case for such questions. Imagine my astonishment when it turned out to be to officiate...!

DaveD You wouldn't have had to spend the money to marry people in Iowa. I don't know how many people I know of who have spent $25 so they can marry someone, when they didn't need to. Anyone can marry people in Iowa. They don't care. You don't even need an officiant. All you have to do is cohabitate and make a public declaration that you are married. I keep trying to let people know about this, because most of the time weddings are a pain. Give me a funeral anytime.

Bogy Yeah, common law is, well, common... of course, like funerals, weddings can be just as much for the viewers/audience/attendees as for the subjects. And that 20 bucks was one-time, I don't have to pay each time! In seriousness, my brother is not well and the wedding was moved up so that my niece could be sure he could walk her down the aisle, very very important to her. Likely to have to return for a funeral sooner than later.
