Everyone should go to a Crawfish boil at least once. Be aware that depending on the weather, live crawfish season might be over. Try to avoid frozen imported crawfish. Many are exported from places that grow them in, shall we say, waste ponds.

    Bon appetite.

Julia went to Salado this weekend to drink wine and ride horses and while she had too much wine she convinced Uncle Bob 🤬 to go Lafayette.

So now you have all been warned.

First, you don’t need to use my family pictures for you avatar.

When Uncle Bob wants you to know his plans he will let you know, so far this story is about Julia and wine.

Julia may have booked a bunch of rooms which I will sell to the highest bidders in September to cover my expenses for this trip.

SHAMEFUL EXCUSE TO BUMP THE POST…..🤓

Just wanted to remind everyone that there’s many small Cajun meat markets in Lafayette and the surrounding area selling all types of Cajun meat, seasonings and other Cajun products. Tasso, boudin, stuffed pork chops, many varieties of sausage as well as alligator. Bring your coolers with you if interested, to stock up for the drive home. This place is 5 minutes outside Lafayette…..👇

I'm going home with so much boudin that I'm going to have to adjust the shocks and springs in the truck so that the chassis doesn't hit the tires.

Purc I won’t let anyone forget….😂 But, if someone does forget, Walmart sells these hard styrofoam coolers, you could pick one up while in Lafayette. I used this same one recently to transport a brisket to the NC MeatUp. After 3 days of travel with it, most all the ice was still in it and not melted! 45 quart size and only $18.

I changed my insurance a couple of weeks ago and I was talking to the agent about AR - he has a BGE and I was trying to convince him he needs a SNS kettle to go with it. Anyway our trip came up and one of his agents chimed in and said he is from Scott, LA, right outside Lafeyette. He told me that Scott is the boudin capital of LA. He even said he may be visiting his parents that weekend. Of course I invited him to stop by the hotel. Local? From Scott? Yeah baby.

Hey Kev, what a small world! He’s right, Scott, La. is the boudin capital of the world. Nearby Breaux Bridge, La. is the crawfish capital of the world. They have an annual Crawfish Festival which draws thousands of people in attendance. While in Lafayette I picked up a brochure about the Cajun Boudin Trail. In the brochure is a map of all the meat markets/small grocery stores in Lafayette and surrounding towns that sell boudin….among many other Cajun specialties. There’s 43 locations listed in the brochure!….with editorial descriptions of several of them. 16 of the stores are in Lafayette proper.

Boudin is best eaten with a few saltine crackers with dashes of Tabasco sauce! Oh yeah…..
