Got mine on Tuesday. Tested it Wednesday night. Smoked a couple chickens and a sausage just to test it out. Everything came out fine. Used Mesquite because the size of the logs was better than Hickory or Oak. Came out mildly smokey as i expected. Everything was tasty. Ordered a Kindling Cracker as the wood was a bit large, which made it harder to keep the layer of coals as thick as it needed to be to reach temp. I will sprinkle in some smaller pieces. Thanks to everyone here I knew exactly what to expect and what was going on! Thanks a bunch for sharing all your knowledge. Excited so I posted a bunch of pictures. Can't wait to do a longer cook.
pitchfork_man and silver taco I see only one post for each of you two, and if you haven't already, hopefully you both will get a chance to read the several KBQ threads available here in "The Pit".

Again, a hearty welcome and congratulations to you for your purchases.
This is truly one of the best backyard smokers in the world!
Thanks Bill and everybody for the warm welcomes! I did a few cooks on the KBQ and love it so far, just have to practice my skills! Wasn't what I expected exactly, bc the meat doesn't have a big "Smoke" flavor... BUT everything had a great flavor and there was ZERO 'bad smoke' flavor. Really clean and tasty. Just want to play with that top poppet valve some more and get that smoke flavor a little more pronounced. tx again!
Brand new KBQ owner, fairly experienced WSM user, first KBQ true virgin cook will be in 2 days for 4 Boston Butts. (played around with a few chicken quarters last night). Look forward to interacting with you all!
A handful of very successful backyard cooks so far. Baby backs, shoulder, brisket flat, even a Prime top sirloin roast. Amazing! Entering my first KCBS contest in a week in a half. A little concerned on the 1.5 hour turn in window for 4 meats, so I'll have a Kettle w/ Slow 'N Sear and a WSM with me!
krampot your fine new smoking machine purchase places you in this ComfortablyNumb Roll Call as KBQ number 63.
Congrats on your WISE purchase!

In my many years of grilling and smoking meats, I have found the KBQ to produce extremely flavorful smoked meats with greater ease than most other smokers that I have owned or tried.
