Tears of joy and jubilation after tasting the sweet mana known as Texas red. I can understand, your first time is euphoric.

That stuff you Texans make down there is good stuff, dumped on top of something like a hot dog , Hamburger, even bread or corn bread. I think the military called it something on a shingle. The comparison can (and has) been made that chili without beans is really just a meat sauce, like a spicier Italian-style sauce you would serve over spaghetti.
I may have to make a trip down there just to have some of that goodness. Along with some of the country's best BBQ

The Minister of Chili, should consider all the facts and revise The Constitution of Chili.

The Minister of Chili was agreed upon by an entirely free election, of and by the people of this great Republic.

      Sincerely, your great Supreme Leader

texastweeter When my query was brought forth to the digital overlords, they informed me of the following (AI content to follow):

How many recipes for chilli have beans versus recipes without beans?

Most written chili recipes include beans; no‑bean recipes are a sizable minority but not the norm.[1][2]

      ## Approximate ratios

      - One Texas food writer who reviewed “hundreds of chili recipes” found that about three‑quarters of them included some kind of beans.[1]
      - A national chili‑style preference survey (not recipes, but how people say they like their chili) reported that classic bean chili styles were most popular, while no‑bean chili was clearly a minority favorite.[2]
      - A recent opinion poll found roughly two‑thirds of Americans with an opinion prefer chili with beans, while around one‑fifth to one‑quarter prefer chili without beans, suggesting a similar skew in home and online recipes.[3]

Putting this together, a reasonable ballpark for recipes is **around 65–75% with beans** and **25–35% without beans**, acknowledging that exact numbers will vary a lot by region (Texas vs Midwest, etc.) and by the source you sample.[4][2][3][1]

Are you mainly interested in this split for home‑style “bowl of red” chili, or do you also want to include things like Cincinnati chili and vegetarian chili in the mix?

I wouldn't call it chili, but I make a macaroni casserole that is similar to what you are describing. It has soy sauce in the meat mixture, which gives it a different flavor. Being from Louisiana, I had to add green bell peppers into the meat mixture too. We like it a lot.

Alan Brice I can spell Jean Marchetti, but I don't know who the heck that is, and my quick internet search led me to a bunch of French Wiki articles and at least one midwestern obituary.

I'm confused...the "Constitution" appears at once, yet has amendments? To boot, the "Minister" appears to have been not elected, but is self appointed. Seems rather anti-democratic, no? ;-)

While we’re on the subject of chili with macaroni, which is punishable by a prison term of 2-10 years, here’s a kick ass recipe for something similar, Hillbilly Ghoulash. It’s really good! [tap on the pic for more clarity]

It really is Will, I’ve made it 3 or 4 times. For some reason I’m not able to post a link to the recipe, it’s from cooknshare.com If anyone does make it I recommend using about 1 2/3 cup of the noodles [instead of 2 cups] and maybe a 1/4 lb more hamburger meat. The first time I made it there was too many noodles in it for my tastes.

They have an amped up version using hot Italian sausage and spicy V8 juice. It looks good to me, but Lisa would never go for it.
