Well, I thought bacon was already up... I was buying 5 lb packs of really good stuff at Winco occasionally for 3.98 a lb, then it went 4.98, 5.98, 6.98... where will it end? BTW, we like crispy bacon, so the 5 lb turns into about 2 lb after cooking. I've switched to "ends and pieces" for chopping up to put in breakfast burritos; every bit as good. At these prices, I can go without bacon in most cases. Maybe I'll get some smoked ham hocks put away for soups and such! Also, jowl bacon is not bad at all for some uses... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pork_jowl

ecowper that’s exactly what I do. Well, I don’t buy Prague powder from Amazon, but from the spice shop.

scottranda I bought a pound of PP#1 about 6 years ago on Amazon. I still have about 1/4 of it left. I suppose I will buy somewhere different some day.

    Dilemma solved.

Started 6 slabs of bacon for me and my staff at work. About 35 lbs total:

Got another 10 lbs of pork belly at Costco today. Price is still $3.99lb. 4 people asked me what I was going to do with it. Told them. 3 of them bought bellies!

I think this was the plot line for the movie "For Pete’s Sake." Who knew Barbara Streisand could predict the future.

I was impressed … usually folks ask me why I’m buying "Brisket" or "Pork Belly" or "Ribs" or "whatever" …. And I tell them. And my answer is met with disbelief … so having people not only believe me but buy pork belly themselves …. I was bowled over

FireMan I went to the store to grab a couple of more today, they are out. My staff bought 4 of them Friday, guess they didn't leave many behind.

My butcher got 3 cases of bacon that were going out of code. I bought a case. I’ll be telling my grandchildren about this for years to come.
