I will be there but will not be spending the night. I’ll just drive to and from my Casa.

I would suggest spending 1 night, lots of things happen and things get changed after you leave or in the morning. Happened to commuters in the Spring who I saw once although I believe they made a few stops with others.
-
As an alternative for someone not staying at the hotel, I’d suggest meeting us downstairs in the morning[s] for coffee, maybe around 8:30 to 9:00. Many times the decision on where we go for lunch are decided at the last minute. Also, there might be 2 or 3 groups going different places. By being there in person, you’d be able to decide which group you’d like to go with, as well as offer your input on places to go.

As a commuter who missed a lot because of the commute (and my bajillion other priorities during my time in town), I missed a lot because I wasn’t at the hotel. I also removed staying at least one night, or being there early for decision making time. Maybe one day the finances to stay there will be on my side!

jecucolo and others who won’t be staying at the hotel. We have kind of a tradition of eating Mexican food on the first night [Thursday] of the MeatUp. Last April we found a good place, Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. They had great food and margaritas. I wanted to get everyone’s opinion about returning this time around. For the people who went there last time, would you like to return or try a new place? For anyone not staying at the hotel, if you’d like to go, feel free to meet us at the hotel Thursday around 5-5:30 if possible. We’ll probably leave for dinner around 6:15 - 6:30.

That’s what I was told a few weeks ago when I called the hotel. I think it’s pretty standard in the hotel industry, from my experience with them for the Meatups. They release all the unbooked rooms in our block, approximately 2 weeks before our arrival date. It gives them a chance to resell those rooms.

If someone wants to join us in the meantime, let me know and I can call the hotel on their behalf. I could see if I could still get them the deal, all they can say is no.

Huskee Yes sir, I’ll be starting a new post Wednesday morning. We have a few people staying Wednesday thru Sunday, so I’ll post it a day earlier than usual. I’ve also contracted with a local bail bondsman to give us a special rate for AR Members only. 🥸

@ Interstellar @ 10;35, there’s a line about 50 people long. There’s some Georgia fans and it’s F1 weekend.

Naw, everything will work out. What time will we meet where in Austin that day? acorgihouse

There were a lot of F1 people when I started listening to them. The line moved slow, it took me an hour to get food once they opened. It’s on the same level as the Burnt Bean and Louis Mueller’s.
There’s a Cajun Place across the street that’s good, if I’m not feeling like battling that line 2 weeks in a row.
